I've looked everywhere and I can't find anyone with an IRC room dedicated to DarkBASIC. Do we not have an IRC room then? All the best languages have a place to go for the oldies to flex their coding muscles and noobs to pour in asking questions.

We have no such room?

Ok yes the #lobby is active, #darkbasic is empty but I idle there to tell people to go to #lobby....

Problem is the only person who's ever gone into #darkbasic left before I could tell them to join #lobby XD

I don't believe #lobby is an official chat room run by TGC. I don't know if TGC officially use that server anymore either. The IRC link from the forums is broken.

You'd be better off reporting the incident to devhat.net. I don't know if they take these kinds of reports seriously or not.

Some advice, take IRC with a grain of salt, it's just people like your or I on there. They're not there to help you. Many of them may be helpful, but many of them may be bored and looking for lulz.

Consider it a place to hang out. I've never found it a good source for fixing code. They will ,however, offer great advice on more general topics like specific algorithms (or design patterns) or computer related things.

Tell me what was said, and who said it. The room is moderated to a degree and personal attacks won't be tolerated, but I must point out that participants sometimes need a thick skin. I'm sure that no real offense was meant.

There is no evidence of anything. What MadrMan said might be nonsense, but he didn't actually insult you personally. Now, I am sure that your feelings were hurt by one or more of the members of our IRC channel, and I will speak to those whose names appear in the picture. I can say though that most likely there comments were made in jest and no real harm was meant by them.

At the same time, if no harm is being done to anybody, people in our channel are allowed to say whatever they want. We are not going to suppress their right to free speech in any way, but personal attacks to other members won't be tolerated.

I would like you to return to the channel to speak with me at some point, I can be usually found under the name "rawr" and I hope we can get to the bottom of this, as it puts a black mark under the devhat community and it is not representing the community as a whole.

What exactly does the unofficial IRC channel have to do with these forums, and why can someone be punished here for misbehaving there? Makes no sense to me.

He brought it on himself, he tried to use the forums as some kind of weapon against us. We are not affiliated with the TGC forums but our link is still on this website. He brought the battle here, not us.

Its at the moderators discretion what they deem to be inappropriate.
