so i got nostalgic with a buddy of mine today and when i came home, i really wanted to replay final fantasy 7 but at the same time i wanna try something i havent played before. i dont know if its just me but i think ff7 is one of the best games of all time. and for a long time i have been searching for new games that would deliver the same experience as ff7. something with awesome charecters, epic music and awesome storyline. so right now i am browsing trough gamespot tag browser while listening to ff7 soundtrack and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. luckily there are several 24 hour stores near where i live that sell games and there are still a lot of old games for sale as well.

just to get it out of the way i will list the games i did play ff6, ff7, ff8 (the rest ff games are for PS2 and i dont own a console. i really wanna play ff10 i even thought i should buy a ps2 just to play that one game) i played kotor, mass effect, mass effect 2. Just saying i played all these so noone lists them. surprisingly not many of these games left a mark on me as much as FF7 did. so i am just looking for something new that might do it

Planescape Torment is one of my favourite RPGs of all time. It has an incredible story and I found it very engrossing...

You don't even need to leave the house to buy it either: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/planescape_torment

Minecraft? Dragon age origins? far cry 2? Beat hazard? Mount & blade warband?

Dragon Age Origins is most similar to the games you listed (amazing rpg), and I think Mount&Blade has the most replayability (Errm, I don't care enough to build 100hr+ superstructures in minecraft).

Far cry 2 and Dragon Age Origins are awesome, engrossing, awesome, awesome games. Actually all of the ones I listed are cool, just google them.

On the commercial side I am considering buying Fallout New Vegas, I loved Fallout 3 and I've heard good things. I think there are some similarities between Fallout and FFVI, or maybe that is just the feeling of playing an epic game. (Epic as in the definition of epic "a long story with big events" not the new internet meaning "AWESOME!")

Do you have a PS3? Because there are a few old RPGs on Playstation Store that are similar to FF, like Grandia and Vagrant Story. I haven't played either but they have great reviews.
