I'm trying to record me playing mount and blade warband, so that I can go back and see what I did wrong. Fraps and/or camstudio have never done me wrong, but what I want to do is record when I'm clicking. The mouse is hidden in the video.

The thing that would be perfect for me would be an icon looking something like this:

in the bottom right hand corner of the screen while I'm playing, highlighting which side I'm clicking. I would try making a program to do this but i rly don't know enough windows API stuff to do it.

So... does anyone know what I could do to make this work?

Only thing I can think of would be to record your physical hand on the mouse and then just play that back while watching the recording . Anything else would probably slow down the game or camtasia.

So you want it to differentiate between left and right?

yeah

Uhh I don't have a camera to record my hand, and even if I did the finger movement in clicking is relatively subtle.

You can make a small app in C# and give it topmost, however i dont know if it will run over a fullscreen app.

In fraps you can enable the cursor though cant you?

yeah, but I don't know enough about the windows API to do so... maybe I'll try anyways.

Uhh the mouse is hidden anyways, this is a first person game, so enabling the mouse cursor wouldn't be visible or show clicks.

I've seen videos that show a little circle where the user clicks, but I can't remember where, nor do I have any clue what the software was, sorry. At least you know it exists though!

I believe this is a feature of camstudio or cam-something.

Why is it though that you want to differ between which side you clicked?

left click is attack, right click is block. My timing is off for some stuff, so I want to see where I'm going wrong (holding a button too long, etc.)

The circle where you click... I'm pretty sure that's a built in windows feature. Still, I think the mouse cursor is hidden and set to 0,0, and I'm not sure it would appear over a fullscreen game. It also might only be when you press ctrl (its setup like that on my downstairs computer)

Make games, not war.

Set up a webcam with a tripod above your hand and get a screen recorder. Press record at the same time?

Thanks all I can think of, without creating something custom
