Currently i have a desktop mic which i accidentally spilled coke on a few months back, and it picks up alot of static now. (still works though).

But i want to get a clear mic because i want to start up gaming on MMOs again (probably gw or wow) And if i wana play with my mates then i will want a good clear mic.

So does anyone know a good headset that i should buy? I dont want to pay an arm and a leg (ive seen some that are like $100).
I have found a nice cheap one at: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-TM-YB100A/dp/B001FY7LBQ/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1295614470&sr=8-6
But apparently it doesnt work on the PS3 (which would be nice).

If you don't want to pay an arm and a leg, you will get an inferior quality headset (Microphone quality and sound quality).

But I can't really recommend a cheap headset, as mine cost £200 (Astro A40). (but it works on the PS3, Xbox 360 and anything with a mic jack or USB port)

Its the best set of headphones and headset I have ever used. (I used to have the Sennheiser PC350, but it doesn't work on consoles and you need a decent sound card, so it doesn't work very well on laptops)

Not true, bought a 5 dollar walmart mic that is the best ever invented. I demo'd it to my brother and a friend in l4d, and they've both since bought one.

It's this one, i've never had a better mic:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836150075&cm_re=microphone-_-36-150-075-_-Product

Actually, it's not all that cheap, about 7 dollars shipping for 16 bucks total, it's worth it though, I'd pay 50 bucks for a mic this good.

I found mine at walmart about a year or two back for 5 bucks, so you might find it locally.

I use it clipped to my collar, and it picks me up loud and clear.

From what I heard, probably the best option ~$20 would be Sehnheiser HD201 + additional mic. But that would be for gaming - while there are probably better phones for music for that price, but they should serve you well in games.
Can't really help you with PS3-compatible ones, don't know any...

@Up: Advertising. BOSE aren't really known for their sound quality, but AFAIK they are trendy...

Iunno, Bose has some of the highest quality audio things I've ever seen. their $300 noise cancelling headphones are amazing (tried em at a best buy), so I would imagine everything about a pair of noise cancelling Bose headphones designed for pilots would be even more amazing. It's just not meant for gaming, and compared to the cost of an airplane it's not that much! Here we're comparing the cost to a home PC (kinda).
