I just installed 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my desktop, dual booted with XP. The sound works, but volume is very low. I've checked all the sound settings to make sure they were turned up 100%. I've looked online and it appears others have had this issue as well, but the only suggestions ppl give them are to turn up their speakers and volume settings. Anyone else have this issue? I didn't have any problems with my dell laptop, but then it shipped with 7 I believe. I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card.

What kind of speakers do you have (2.1, 5.1, etc.). You might have to configure the sound for that type if you haven't alright, click the sound icon next to the time and date, then click Playback Devices, then click you device and click configure. When I first installed W7 I had problems with the audio not coming out of all the speakers, maybe your problem is related. Also I'm assuming you have already but if not, try updating the drivers.

Speakers were configured to just standard 2.1 stereo. The connection on my old boston acoustics subwoofer crapped out so I'm just running it through my old Aiwa boombox(theres an old word), which has no problems with volume in XP.

I did play around with the drivers last night, using Windows update and trying to download straight from Creative just in case drivers were different.. Same issue in either case.

Sorry, I don't know then. I had sound troubles for like a week and then miraculously it started working after trying something that I thought I already tried. Maybe just giving it a few days will fix it

Have you installed the 64-bit sound card drivers?
EDIT: Ignore that, just read your second post.

I remember having all sorts of problems with my sound card when I first installed Windows 7 64-bit until Asus released proper drivers.

Did you try changing the speaker device after installing new drivers?

Also make sure the sample rate isn't set really high (in the Advanced tab) as that will make it quieter.

I had left it at the default 16-bit, 48Khz. Played around with it though, set it to 24-bit 48Khz and the audio got much louder to the level it should be at. So I guess problem is resolved!

So setting a higher sample rate actually made it louder.

Hmm that's odd, but at least it fixed it. On my headphones, setting a higher sample rate made the quality go up but the volume go down slightly.
