Hi all,

I have been inactive with Dark Basic, and computer programming, for about 4 or 5 years now. I have decided to get back into Dark Basic as practice to move on to some Java applications of OpenGL (thinking jmonkey).

What is new in the Apollo community? Is DBPro still relevant today, and able to keep up with advances in DirectX? What new higher-level languages have appeared on the market to compete with it?

Thanks,
Matt

I think I remember you. Yea it's all still relevant, I think there's lots of shaders out there now too. You should take a look at DarkGDK, basically the DB library for C++. I don't know if you were around much for the DBP challenges we used to do all the time, but those pretty much faded away over the past year. But there's been a few community challenges recently, the last one just ended. Check the community compo board for the next one and join in. Good way to get back into the dark ways.
