Has anyone else been playing this?

It came out a few days ago, and it will finish next week sometime.

It seems to me a mix of CoD and Halo, but it's really well done. If you happen to try it out, and after the first hour or so decide you don't like it, stick at it for a bit. Me and a couple of other friends have found that most people seem to really start having a blast after they've put in a bit more gameplay.

I'm really loving it and can't wait for the full game in March!

1.8gb for one map. And I wouldn't buy it on PC when it's been dumbed down for consoles, the controls are VERY well done on 360.

I have no idea why. I can understand why you would want the original Crysis to be PC only, but there is seriously no reason to buy it on PC unless you want to pay an extra 500 dollars in graphics hardware for a dumbed-down product.

pc ftw. i dont think it has been dumbed down on pc.. if u have those 500$ graph cards the your crysis 2 experience will probably be 500$ worth of graphics better... i really dont think its exactly the same on both consoles.

I love people who laugh that my PC cost more.

Of course it did, that's why I can run games at better than 1080p at better than 60fps with (often times) better texture/model resolution, and full AA.

Play L4D2 on a nice rig and compare it to the xbox. There's no comparison. On a good PC it looks better *and* plays smoother.

Meh, I used to have a pc with an 8800 in it with 4 gigs (like 2 years ago) and truthfully, to me it looks exactly the same as my PS3. That's why I sold it for a laptop.

I found with crysis 1 the processor and memory was as important(probably more) than the Graphics card. I'd imagine its the same this time.

So don't rely on graphics cards

Agreed. I could easily play everything on very high with a 9800gt. All because I had a good 8gig or ram and a good processor.

Bet minimum will be about 7800. Crysis's minimum was 6800 I think. You'll be fine grunt. Just not for very high

I don't know where you getting your info cause thats isn't true. What they've done is create an Engine that can work uni-formally with all three platforms via PC. So they will create the game via pc using high end texture, meshes and shaders and they get dumbed down for the consoles. If you look at the presentation vids, you can clearly see that the quality is higher on the PC.

In this vid you can kind of see the difference in shader quality, mainly the water, but vid's not that great:

This is better, but you don't get to see the PC version much, but when you do, you can see the difference:

Either way, the game still looks stunning on every platform.

Y'know there are other games coming out right? We don't spend a ton of money for one game. We future proof. We buy a rig that will cover the next 2 years of Games.

Not always the case with some games which are ports of Console games. But games produced for PC in mind then yes.

A game that's not out on PC yet, not even a demo look the same as on your PS3. Err...

I wonder what game your comparing...

Well yes. The whole point of CryEngine 3 is that it actually runs. CryEngine 2 could produce stunning graphic, but the performance was the issue. This time round, they've still achieved the graphics level but with a more optimized engine.

@Sasuke In the 2nd video, do you know why the fan in the xbox version is spinning faster than the one in the PS3? You think it's a FPS issue or something?

@heyufool1 Wouldn't be FPS, due to timer based movement, everything would move the same speed. Maybe it's something that occurs in Ed mode. A small glitch, who knows... But if you've noticed it, I bet they did and this presentation is old, so it's bound to have a few bugs.

Wow. Okay, I've gotten experienced in the UnrealENGINE 3 tools over the past 2 years. But nothing can compare to CE3 at the moment. The multi-platform realtime updating is AMAZING. Not to mention updating textures straight from photoshop, to entities inside the engine. CE3 has surpassed any game engine I have seen.

I suspected this could turn into a PC/console fanboy thread but didn't have any idea how soon.

that is a shame indeed, however stating which console you will buy it for, and explaining why isnt a problem
but questioning the intentions is kind of... not so okay xD

gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg I WANT CRYSIS 2 NOW AND I WANT A NEW COMPUTER NOW D:

I don't plan on buying Crysis 2. I thought the first one was blown way overboard. I'm running on "Very High" settings, and I really don't see the whole "wow" except for large explosions. That's it. It looks like your standard game. I even think Call of Duty BlackOps did a better job graphics-wise. Problem with Crysis, is the first one looked more "plastic" than real. Everything was very clean and didn't look gritty or even realistic. It looked like a fantasy world, reminded me a lot of Mirrors Edge for how clean it was.

Not to mention the unoriginal storyline, the mediocre multiplayer, and generally the requirements for such a generic game just didn't really appeal to me. Sure, Sandbox 2 is fun to mess around with from time to time, but I could never see buying the game full price. (Thank God for eBay, I bought a used copy for $15.)

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.
