Did he store them in the Recycle Bin?

I've never known Disk Cleanup to do that.

Are you sure it was Disk Cleanup and not something else?

I'm pretty sure system restore only restores the registry, not any files.

If you have a second computer that you can plug your HDD into, you can try this:
http://www.files-recovery.org/

Not sure how successful you'll be if you did a system restore though.

That program sucks and it's a scam!! You need a registration code and a guy tells me to register on the site and you can't even do that! SCAM.

You can try the demo of this software http://www.filerestoreprogram.com/
i saw the URL in this video from HowCast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNk7O1JW5ug&feature=fvwrel

i downloaded the EXE on my pc and scanned it with McAfee and nothing popped up but i didnt install it as A.) i have no use for it B.) i dont want to take chances.

*Dont blame me if the software is infected*, my McAfee license expired and im stuck with 8.5

A good thing to do from now is either a RAID configuration, backup drive, or both. Right now I'm just backing up my files every now and then, too lazy for a RAID.

No offense, but I smell BS. Never has a disk cleanup deleted photos and normal files. The only thing it gets rid of is temporary files and cached internet files. (And desktop icons that are unneeded.) Regardless, most recovery software costs money, and the free software generally does a poor job and can end up ruining recovery efforts.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I don't think it is bs. Never had the problem myself though, but now I know better than to mindlessly click "ok" on the disk cleanup prompt Sorry that I don't have any helpful information though.

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I don't think I could do anything about it than just reformat it and that's what I did. (With the help of my dad and brother)
