Hi everyone. I can't seem to use Character Shop as McAfee erases cs.exe and cs.$$a even when I have real time scanning turned off. I've tried to submit it to McAfee but it doesn't go. Has anyone else encountered this and figured out how to fix it?

LOL. Yeah. Umm. No. Any software that requires me to remove my virus software isn't worth it really. I'll just pass on it.

You shouldn't be using MacAfee in the first place though, it's a horrible program. There are much, much better alternatives that are free, such as Avast! or AVG.

I think he meant shouldn't :p

And I agree, MacAfee lags computers way too much. Use something like AVG, but stay away from Norton antivirus, its horrible.

Sophos is a very good program IMO as it deletes virus's instantaneously , the only time it was defeat was at the hands of the antivirus scam, which I had to manually delete.

Yeah, I know all that but McAfee is included with my internet service so I'm not likely to change it. I've had bad luck with free virus protection, including Avast. Seems they are usually the first ones to be busted by the creeps who make viruses.

Not sure why mcafee would delete those files even when scanning is disabled.

What you can do though is most antiviruses have an option to exclude certain folders/files.

Go ahead and exclude the files or exclude the entire folder.

From the second link, it sounds like it may not be an option. Getting an a/v with proper options would probably be better for you.

I am so happy with my WLSE, not a problem in the world... McAfee, aka MyCoffee by me, just because you got it by your ISP does not make it good lol, in fact never listen to anything your ISP has to say to you... cus theyre lying... in the event of "Sorry sir, our 'tools' are currently down" just say, o ok well I know you got a 24 hour thing, lets hope you dont say that to me in 25 hours otherwise you have breached your own T&C's lol...

Windows Live Security Essentials, works wonders (that is of course, for authentic users - not going to say more than that.)

Never tried WLSE, i use AdAware, works awesomely!

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

AVG works wonders for me.

Even when I've gone on some pretty risky sites *ahem*shopping for coffee mugs*ahem*, AVG's linkscanner quickly tells me why the site's a bad one and I can get out of it before it tries to infect my computer by telling me to download something (common sense also helps in this regard) or play a naughty video without my permission.

the time we had McAfee on our computer was pretty terrible, really. Made it run super slow and we still got infected with viruses, even without going on "risky" sites.
