History
International Game Creation Month (InGaCreMo) started back in 2008, then known as NaGaCreMo, its purpose is to motivate programmers to complete a self-assigned task within a month. InGaCreMo is not a competition; no one wins, no one loses and there are no rewards besides that warm, fuzzy feeling of accomplishment.

FAQ's
Q: How do I enter InGaCreMo?
A: You must make "the pledge" by posting the following message in the official InGaCreMo thread for that month:
Quote: "I, [your name] pledge to complete [your goal] by the last day of [the designated month]."

Q: There's no thread for the month I want to enter! What do I do?
A: Calm down. Anyone is allowed to create an InGaCreMo thread, providing said month hasn't already begun and there isn't already a thread for that month in existence - if by chance more than one thread is created for the same month, only the oldest, unlocked thread should be used.
For an InGaCreMo to be recognized as "official", at least five people must make "the pledge" before the chosen month has commenced. This is a special event, and we want to keep it special, so there must be enough activity to make it worthwhile.

Q: The month has started, is it too late to enter?
A: No, as long as there is an existing thread for the month that has at least five pledges, you can make the pledge at any time before the deadline has passed.

Q: Can I work on a project I've already started?
A: Yes. You don't have to start a new project, you don't even have to finish an entire project, but you must clearly define your goals in your pledge.

Q: I want to use C++ is that allowed?
A: Yes. You may use any programming language, including non-TGC products.

InGaCreMo March 2011 is Official!
We have already surpassed the required five pledges to make this an officially recognized InGaCreMo! - well, as official as an unofficial event can get. Good luck to everyone and I hope to see some great achievements in the coming month.

The Hall of Pledges
These noble and brave folk have committed themselves to completing a task of their choosing by the end of March 2011. (Listed alphabetically)

Uploading
All who have made the pledge are welcome to post screen-shots and upload content showing their progress throughout the month.
Please try to keep your uploads compatible for as many forum goers as possible, and don't include any material that would breach the forum's AUP, copyright infringing or otherwise inappropriate - we don't want to get ourselves locked now do we.

I guess I can finish up that FPS puzzle game I've been working on for the last year.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Because I failed last month, I'll redeem myself.

I, Seppuku-eth Von Toddsburg De Chateau The Third Jr. Esq. pledge to complete a demo of the game I started in DBP, but in Unity instead by the last day of March.

Essentially, now that I don't have a crap computer, I can actually run Unity. I've got to learn to use it, but I reckon I can have a demo at the end of March. I know what I want to do and how to do it in DBP, it's just translating it over to Unity.

I pledges last time, but then had to take my pledge back, which I guess you cant really do... But now that Im all done applying for college and Im not in risk of loosing my best friends anymore, my life seems to be in order again. January was an awful month. Hopefully February will be a good one for programming.
I had been working on my physics engine, but I think I need to restart it using a more primitive approach.

I, Chris, pledge to complete the dynamic physics portion my game engine by the end of March.

Hopefully I will get more done by then, but I dont want to bite off more than I can chew.

EDIT:
especially because this time, I am not even starting with physics. Im starting with visuals and basic 2d shaders. But this is going well.

We have enough pledges to make March an official InGaCreMo! Yay!

I may be thinking ahead here but would it be a good idea to make a main thread for InGaCreMo with the rules and history and where we propose months to be InGaCreMo's, then if we get enough interest we make a new thread for that specific month (we could link to the main thread for the rules and history) and when the month is up we return to the main thread.
Is that a good idea or am I over complicating things?

How about a dedicated website and making it more popular?

I think a web site would be cool, but only as a showcase as to what has been done. I think it would be good to keep the discussion on TGC. If you try and have a new discussion area, I think it will just become divided, and divided we fall.

I second this motion.

Could anybody host the site or would we have to use a free hosting site like Webs.com?

EDIT:

Forgot to mention that for my project I'm going to use DGDK. I'm tired of DBpro and its problems with Windows 7.

I wonder, maybe we could get hosting from TGC? probably very unlikely, but it'd be worth trying...

Or maybe someone should make the site their InGaCreMo entry.

I don't see the advantage of a website, unless it's to showcase the entries from all InGaCremo's, that would be cool; like Phaelax's website for the DBC challenges.

ah HA! Im primarily using XNA and C# to write my stuff, but I just remembered that Dark Shader has a good HSLS editor in it, and I am the point where I need to break out the shading. If I use Dark Shader to WRITE shaders for my XNA project, does that qualify it to be a WIP on the forums here? Or is it still pushing it way too far?

@flashing snall:
I believe that your main project needs to be done in a TGC product for it to be a WIP. I don't think that just using Dark Shader for the shaders, and using XNA for the bulk would qualify for a WIP here.

I think a website would expand the interest in it, and would allow for discussion on game development to happen outside of TGC's products, because out of respect for TGC, you may notice that there aren't that many other engines discussed outside of the ones TGC has programmed.

Regardless, if you're interested in a site I'd be more than willing to help, being as I'm generally more of a web development person anyway.

If I had money I would.

I've got a new idea for a game that I'm going to make for this iteration of InGaCreMo. Y'all can read it about here if'n you so desire.

Progress! I just figured out to use RenderTargets in xna. Which, is actually not that much of a feat at all, but for some reason, it took me a little while to get that last step to work.

I'll host the site if needed. I can host a new domain if someone wants to buy it, or I can just put it off one of my existing domain names. Let me know.

I, SerialVelocity, pledge to complete a demo of Starscape Ones successor by the last day of March, and I mean it, no exams are getting in the way this time!

Atm, I'm getting to grips with Ogre which I am using as the graphics and input layer and creating the game framework which I'll use DarkNet for multiplayer.

I think I'll be able to get my mini-game done in the next couple of weeks if I work hard. It's a simple idea so it shouldn't take any longer than that. Development was delayed for a bit as I diagnosed my computer's clicking noise (I'm pretty sure it's just something stuck in the fan), but now I should be able to work on it again.

I think I need to restate my pledge. I pledged to finish my physics piece, but I think a better (and more realistic) pledge would be to finish the drawing portion of my game. Its moving along quite nicely

Thanks Obese87, its for my team's DBP entry this year. The deadline is June 14th so we need to crank.
I hope people are not forgetting about this challenge!!!

I needed to finish the drawing mech before I could do my real pledge which was physics. But behold! PHYSICS!

Alright guys. Its the last day of the challenge. I hope you all had luck with your projects. I myself was able to get a nice physics collision response system up and running with a few glitches that still need Ironing out. Ill make a video later, but right now I got to go to work.

Happy Coding.

Haven't really made as much progress as I wanted to, but I've implemented a fair amount - a very realistic but playable flight model (inertia and all that), ship and scene management and some basic multiplayer.

I've also got quite a large variety of control methods like: arrow-key rotation, the cursors distance from the centre of the screen (like in Freelancer) and FPS style mouse movement.

There isn't any real eye-candy yet (unlike it's predecessor) as I want all the technical stuff working first:
