Hey there everyone, normally I know what to do, but this time I'm 100% completely stumped, and I can't figure anything out.

So here's the story: I bought a 8800 GTX, the card didn't work properly (DOA). The Nvidia Drivers were uninstalled, and my ATI 5450 HD drivers were re-installed. Only, this time I couldn't use my DVI cable. Correction, I CAN use it, I just can't set my resolution to anything higher than 640x480, I have a 1440x900 monitor so naturally this is going to be an issue.

I've tried everything including un-installing ALL ATI drivers 100%. Now the conflict occurs because I have an integrated graphics chipset, an ATI Radeon 3000, HOWEVER there is NO way to disable on-board graphics in my bios. You can, however, set priority to PCI and PCI-E cards, over on-board graphics.

The problem is, VGA cable works FINE, but I cannot use VGA because the blurriness of it and the poor video quality seriously gives me a headache. I NEED my DVI cable.

The card is not bad because it worked before I changed out cards, now it doesn't work properly. When Windows 7 64 bit loads, I can see it in 640x480, but anything beyond that (such as the boot screen) doesn't show up when my DVI cable is plugged in. I've tried adjusting monitor settings, reinstalling drivers, etc.

I've had zero luck.

System:

AMD Athlon II x2 250 3.0 GHz
4 GB DDR3 RAM
ASUS ATI Radeon HD 5450 1gb DDR3
1440x900 flat panel LCD

I don't know what else to do. I can't exactly re-install my system, because I've got loads of files and I haven't got a copy of Windows 7 and I don't know how to access my recovery partition.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

It has been a while since I had to deal with a video card, but do you have AMD Catalyst Control Center installed? I had issues with this a few years ago. A new install fixed everything.

There are two kinds of computer users. Those that use Macs and those that wish they did.

You did a hardware install without having a backup of your data? You're asking for trouble :/

My advice at this point is to do a full reinstall.
