So... The whole "leaked Crysis 2" thing made me realize that there are a CRAPLOAD of games coming our way in 2011. Mainly everything mentioned on this page:
http://originalgamster.com/blog1/2010/12/21/2011-is-gonna-rape-your-wallet/

Main games:

I'm especially excited for the top 7, and that sets the record for awesome-games-in-a-year. I'll probably play the next 3, aand I'll definitely be watching my friends play the last two, but I don't think I'll be buying them.

I've sorta cut right back on what I spend on games, so the only one in that list that I have to get is Skyrim - mainly because Fallout NV was so good, and didn't let me down.

I've been waiting on Test Drive Unlimited 2 for months, got that on Friday, and most of the time the servers are down, it crashes, it won't let me add friends... kinda wish I'd just bought it for the 360 instead of the PC. And they made it so that you can't use the same profile offline, as you do online - you can't even continue your game if their server is unavailable. Sours the whole idea of looking forward to games when there are issues every time.

As for the rest of the list, well GoW2 was so damn over-rated, I haven't even played through it yet, so I don't care much about GoW3. Duke Nukem Forever will be, well Duke Nukem, I think we'll realise just how bad the games were after DN3D. It'll be pretty much every feature of every FPS, but done badly - like when EA try and do a GTA game. I still haven't completed Uncharted2, but they are great games, and the sequels are trying to push the ideas forward, so I might check that. RAGE will basically be Quake4, or Doom3 with more lights - the idea is great, but ID don't do sandbox games, so it'll be a FPS with driving bonus stages, leaving the sandbox stuff to Fallout and Borderlands. Portal2 looks great, but whenever Valve release a game, I can't buy it right away, because I know it'll feature in a pack, or it'll be put on special offer 3 minutes after I buy it full price. I don't mind dragging my heels, waiting for offers, orange boxes, and pre-owned, so really the only game in that list for me is Skyrim.

I am a bit sceptic about Duke Nukem Forever, might be the formula of the game hasn't aged that well.
But I'm curious about the new SSX. I love snowboarding games and the franchise, so let's hope the best.
Uncharted 3 may be pretty good as the second one was too.
I agree with Van B that Rage may be just a giant tech demo for ID Tech 5, but we'll see...

And then I'm mega hyped about the new Zelda: Skyward Sword! Oh please let it be epic.

Now the plot thickens, the fps decreases, and the awesomeness goes through the roof.

Despite New Vegas's bugs it was a beautiful game, and a new engine should polish up the aged look for a new ES game. ME3 definitely, playing through ME2 now and loving it, and it has Sean Bean which is lovely.

Portal 2 is Valve. I have every Valve game, even L4D and L4D2, which I can't stand anymore.

And if Red Faction lean more towards the crazy physics of Guerilla it'll be awesome. My best firefights were in Guerilla because the scenery destruction made constant relocation necessary, so it never grew stagnant. Also bringing down buildings was just...beautiful.

I'm not saying NV didn't have any bugs, but am I the only one who didn't experience any bugs? I hear a lot of hate on the Bethesda games for being buggy, but I have only encountered 2-3 bugs after playing over 200 hours of Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas (200 combines of course)

As for the OP, I'm definitely putting some cash aside for Skyrim, Diablo 3 (hopefully it comes out), and maybe Guild Wars 2.

Mass Effect 3, because Mass Effect is the best science fiction video game series ever.

Dragon Age 2, though I am worried about the new protagonist and the "new art style" which, if you ask me, looks just plain stupid.

Portal 2, because it's Valve. Enough said.

The Witcher 2, because The Witcher 1 is a criminally underrated game.

And then, of course, the one game that overshadows all the others this year, TES V: Skyrim.

Yes, same games as Herakles although I think DA2 looks amazing...

It's a good year to love RPGs.

I do too. I merely have concerns about certain things. I liked how much control you had over your character in Origins and the extent to which you could customize him. A Shepard-style protagonist works for Mass Effect, but I'm not sure if it will work so well for Dragon Age.

Plus, there's the new visual style which looks aweful to me. I really don't understand what was so bad about the graphics in Origins. Sure the textures weren't quite up to modern standards resolution wise, but there was absolutely nothing wrong the visual style. What they have going for Dragon Age 2 just looks too stylized and over the top. They are abandoning a believable and coherent look for their world (even if it wasn't very original) in favor of a "cool" one.

But I'm not trying to imply that Dragon Age 2 will be bad. There's plenty about it that I'm really looking forward to. It is, after all, one of the games that I'm eagerly waiting for this year.

Get Rex as a companion. On XBox there's some bug with his attack routine where the console freezes as he attacks.

Which sucks because he's a tank.

I had a bug with the eyebot, seemed to go feral after I left him at his home, would attack everyone. And the odd freeze up and NV4 blue screen. But the point is that, even besides the bugs it's still an awesome game, we can forgive bugs here and there when the game is as good as that.

That's why TDU2's bugs are annoying me, because it appears to be awesome, but the bugs won't let it.

Mass Effect 3 - Definitely, ME and ME2 were both very good games and I loved them. I am a little disappointed that I finished ME on PC and not XBox 360 because 1) I had waaaaay too many troubles with the PC version and 2) I could only play ME2 on XBox (lack of compatible PC), so I couldn't use my old game save. However, ME3, I'm definitely getting it for the 360, I want to see what happens as a result of some of my actions, like (spoiler):

The Elder Scrolls V: Morrowind and Oblivion were amazing, it'll be interesting to see how they top it.

Bioshock: Infinite:
If it's being released, I don't know, but I'll look forward to it if it is.

Final Fantasy XIV - PS3 version: Because I don't have anything anywhere NEAR as powerful enough to run the PC version. I know it has got bad reviews, but it's an MMORPG and it was released early, but I have faith Sqaure will improve things and I suspect it'll have a game play I'll enjoy, it was the same for FFXI-Online and I LOVE that game.

Final Fantasy XI - Expansion: They're still updating the game with new content, from some of Square's comments, we're still to expect more expansions (2010 had the Abyssea expansion issued in 3 installments, the 3rd was just before Christmas, I suspect they might do something similar).

Dragon Age II: I enjoyed the first one, it's something I'll probably buy, but I wouldn't say I'm excited.

Crysis 2: It'll be interesting to play the console version as it'll probably be visually spectacular, as I've come to expect good things from Crytek in that department, also, I actually enjoyed Crysis and Crysis 2 looks interesting

Portal 2: I've enjoyed every vavle game I've played, including Portal, so why not Portal 2.

Abe's Oddysee HD?: I read that a game studio is remaking Abe's Oddyssee with a 3D physics engine and are claiming they'll retain the original game's feel. If it's a 2011 release, then, well, I'll definitely grab it. I love the Abe games! They're the only games to had frustrated me enough (in a good way) for me to genuinely swear at the computer screen. I've never managed to save ALL the mudokons without cheating. I'm playing through Munch's Odyssee now (never had an original XBox, so I never played it) and I am kind of disappointed, because it feels like a standard 3D platformer to me, like Rayman 2 in someways (Rayman 2 was great, but it's not what you'd expect an Oddworld game to be like)

I've limited myself to

assasins creed brotherhood (you all forgot its not come out on PC yet?)
Crysis 2 - the gameplay video looked fairly awesome
Portal 2 - looks superb
Maybe rage, and possibly SWTOR (depends on costs)

I'm waiting pretty much all of the things that have been said: DKF, Skyrim and Crysis 2.

But 2 games I'm really waiting from this year:

Resident Evil Revelations:

It all depends on how much the european 3DS will cost if I get this game. I'm a hardcore RE fan and this will be a nice addition to my collection. Gotta catch 'em all!

Devil May Cry 5:

Despite the really screwed up protagonist (emo Dante) and different game studio, I'm still waiting for this game. It doesn't seem to offer anything new but it's the next game in the series so it will be interesting how the story continues (or discontinues as it takes place before first DMC.)

I'm most definitely looking forward to Elder scrolls V Skyrim, just because well it is a elder scrolls game. And so far it looks really promising.

ME3 I feel however it looks good, to me it seems like it'd be the same old same old.. I liked the whole re-use the old save games, but I felt Mass Effects 2 story was too much like ME1, I hope ME3's story is completely different and makes for the epic climax the trailer shown.

Dragon Age 2, looks good, however I never really liked Origins.

Portal 2 looks amazing however I thought Valve could never make a sequel but with some amazing new puzzle tools it'll be again a game that will quite frankly awesome.

Woah, did we play different games? The story in ME2 was nothing like number 1, at least I didn't think so. I'm in the minority as I actually think ME1 was the better game, I missed the Mako.

IMO 2 became more of a shooter than the original. It was certainly action packed, and had some amazing sequences but lacked some of the original's charm.

There won't be any this year (including no new DLC)...

I'm waiting for:
-Bioshock: Infinite (more Bioshock is still good, but it'll probably rather be in 2012)
-Alice: Madness Returns
-Ico Collection (never had a PS2 and those games are well... legendary)
-The Last Guardian (see above)
-Catherine
-Bulletstorm (Crazy and totally different from all those "modern shooters". Also it's polish )
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution
-DNF (how can one not?)
-Shogun: Total War 2
-The Witcher 2 (I still haven't played the first one, but I'll do this as soon as I'll get myself a new PC. Plus it's also a polish game :3)

I'm waiting, but I wonder if I'll buy them. I still have games from previous years to play...

I'm anticipating a ton of games this year.

Pokemon White I teh Pokemans and White looks to be like a great addition to the series, especially with that bad-ass legendary gracing the front cover.

TLoZ: Ocarina of Time 3D & Skyward Sword I love Zelda, it's what made me want to make games for a career, and Ocarina of Time is a fantastic game that I'd really like to be able to play on the go. As for Skyward Sword, I think the art style looks great and am just really excited to get a built for the ground up on Wii Zelda.

Skyrim Well I loved Morrowind and Oblivion and the brief bits I played of Arena and Daggerfall. Basically I really like The Elder Scrolls, and Skyrim looks to up the ante.

DOA: Dimensions Under those breast physics DOA is a pretty fun fighter, at least I think so. Now to have DOA on the go? Well consider me pumped.

Mass Effect 3 It's Mass Effect. The original was my favorite game of 2007, the sequel was my favorite game on the citadel. I hope 3 continues this trend. Although I will miss Jack Wall's score.

Guild Wars 2 I loved the original Guild Wars, and while the sequel looks radically different, I think that's why I think I'll love it even more than the original.

There's a ton more but I'm not even sure if some of them will be released this year (The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VS XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance or whatever the hell it's called, etc.)

It's about time. In all respect, Guitar Hero was good (was), but after popularity and over-exposure kicked up, I lost interest.

I lost interest in Guitar Hero after the third one - I prefer Rock Band anyway, but it just seemed to me that the new slide controller was just a gimmock. I think the problem is that they can't change too much, so they are all limited by the existing fan base - it's not like anyone is ever gonna come up with a different way to do music games. Also it seems to be the same music every time. Rock Band 2 got it spot on I think, Rock Band 3 is different for the sake of being different.

To me the general basis of the story was very similar, humans are being affected by some "unknown" alien race, Shepard is called(or rebuilt) to stop the alien forces, turns out the main antagonist was actually just being controlled by reapers and oh look Reapers are coming again..lol I'm not saying I didn't like Mass Effect 1 and 2, I've racked up hours playing them just that I found the story ok not strongly similar but I did find a lot of the turn of events quite similar, I liked learning what happened to the Protheans that was cool, although how the Collectors were controlled and manipulated into what they are seemed like Saren.. Sure that's how the reapers roll, but having the antagonist of the game turning out to be a weak and manipulated being can turn predictable also how it just kept showing the return of the Reapers. But tbh I did find some things predictable, but one thing I didn't expect was the fact there is no fish in the citadel lake, I was like after finding that out.lol

ME3 though I'd still look forward, perhaps buy it on release, and likely play till I missed a whole year, but as I like Dark story-lines I hope that ME3's ending makes us the player realise that the Reapers cannot be stopped, that'd be to me a great ending for ME3.lol

The reason I preffered the series over Rock Band is because of the better setlists. Particularly LoR and MoR.

While I agree, I still can't get over the whole guitar hero thing.

It got me into music, and I have been playing guitar hero since number 2. I might try getting Rock Band, but I don't know.

Totally agree. Even more since I dislike DLC, which RB is practically based on (except RB2 had a pretty nice setlist).

I don't like the RB setlist either, it's even more annoying that you have to play the same songs multiple times just to get to the next tier.
