My downloading keeps breaking... It downloaded to about 92mb then it stopped, I ran it, and it said it was corrupt. Then I downloaded it again to about 120mb and it did the same thing? I'm assuming it's just because they are getting a lot of traffic, so I'll wait a few days.

I just finished playing the demo, and I can't say that I like all of the changes that have been made from Origins.

One thing that I have been nervous about for a while is the switch to a Commander Shepard style protagonist. In this, my worries seem to be for naught, because it didn't turn out too bad in this game. One thing that did turn out bad is the "dialogue wheel" thing with the condensed dialogue options. This is one problem I've always had with Mass Effect, the condensed version of each dialogue option just fails to convey the complete meaning of the full voice acted version.

Another thing I don't like is the graphics. Somehow, they managed to make the graphics even worse than Origins. The environments are barren, with little to no vegetation or clutter. The characters look about the same as they did in Origins, just more stylized and idiotic looking. The character animations are also too stylized. Too many slow motion leaps through the air.

Origins wasn't particularly original, but it had a certain harsh realism that I really liked. Dragon Age 2 is just too stylized in a pathetic attempt to be "cool".

But I don't mean to imply that everything is bad. The gameplay is mostly the same as Origins, but improved in certain areas. Combat is much more refined and brutal. It is somewhat easier than Origins, too easy for my tastes. But the demo doesn't let you increase the difficulty, so that will probably be better in the full game where you can. The story... Well, there isn't enough of it in the demo for me to be able to judge it fairly.

Anyway, this is all still only judging from the demo. I may think differently about some things once I've played the full game. From what I can see it will be a very good game in it's own rite, but it just can't touch the level of awesomeness of the first game.

^^^THIS.
Also, I agree, there's not the same sense of difficulty, and making everything so stylized is just... meh.

combat seems more hectic and more fast paced. thats a very nice step in the right direction imo^^ and I too be honest like the stylistic look of it
especially considering it is fantasy and FANTASY ISNT REALISTIC if i wanted a realistic game, i would choose any without orcs and goblins.

graphically its awesome imo, especially using Dx11 (now ive only watched when Total Halibut played it, so its all based on that)

mage, warrior and rogue is imo a bit too dull for me, sure u can specialize them but still.

Graphically it's a huge improvement over the generic look of the original IMO. My main problems were with the voice overs and the weird stutter when the demo transitioned from conversation straight to combat. But overall it seems like an improvement over Origins, at least on the console end. (I'm more of a console gamer than a PC gamer so I played the 360 demo)

Well I already wanted this game and the demo just made me want it even more. It was awesome, I like the new art style, I like the changes to combat and I like that my character is no longer mute.

My favourite bit was when I was fighting the ogre, three Hurlocks came up behind me. A quick tap of the b button and I back flipped over them and started to attack them from behind.

I just play origins at the moment and it is downright awesome! I've always liked Bioware's Roleplaying Games but this one is my favorite.

Too bad that the comabt won't be as challenging as in Origins, as it really was something entertaining

The deeply developed characters and the great voice acting was the best part in Origins (IMO.)

From reading through here...I fear that Dragon Age 2 does not allow me to create my own character?

You can customize the appearance of your character, but you can't choose his/her race or origin story.

You can choose your character's class and gender, but not race or origin. You can also change his/her appearance, but that feature was disabled in the demo. You are always a human named Hawke, just like in Mass Effect where you are always a human named Shepard. It even has the "dialogue wheel" thing from Mass Effect, where the dialogue options that you click are codensed "mini versions" of the full version that is actually voiced. And the full version often has a completely different meaning to the mini version.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mass Effect. In fact I love Mass Effect 2 even more than Dragon Age: Origins. But Origins was good for it's own reasons, not because it copied what was good in Mass Effect.

Definitely! And a long, intriguing storyline.

They did lose the whole unique RTS kind of game play, but then again, I always complain that games have the same exact gameplay sequel to sequel.
