Wow, that's pretty. Looks like we'll be seeing more the Frostbite 2 engine in the future. What do you guys think? I know we've got enough of these shooters, but the future capabilities of the engine is more what I want to talk about, plus a smattering of discussion about this game.

I wish they would go back to what made Battlefield 1942 fun, which was big open worlds and vehicles and stuff. Now it's just modern warfare stuff, which is fun, but could be significantly funner. Hopefully Battlefield 3 will recognize that.

That's a bit too real for me, it looks awesome but I know I'd wet myself if I played it!

Apparently they have, as they have re-introduced jet aircraft, which would suggest that the maps have become significantly bigger (hopefully more like BF2 64 player size).

I'm not sure what I'm more excited for: Diablo 3, Skyrim or this... I guess I have no choice but to get all three, and lock myself in my room

I know the feeling heyufool, I'm almost complaining about the number of great games that are out/coming soon, I'm still waiting to buy Mafia II and only recently bought Fallout: New Vegas and LBP2

Well, I just have to fix a bit here. First: Battlefield 2 Modern Combat came before 1942 (oxymoron lol). It had jets, helicopters, and large levels. I personally preferred the ps2 version over the computer version. Now, supposedly (not confirmed) they will be using some of the maps from the ps2 version (BF2) in the ps3 version (bf3). And I would just like to add that the two easily best FPS games I have played are Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and Battlefield: 1942.

I believe you're getting confused with Battlefield 1943, a downloadable game.

Yeah, 1942 was the original. Awful graphics by today's standard, but still the most fun, imo.

This look quality, but until I see vehicles and the possibility to drive a jeep off a bridge and then deploy a parachute as I free fall onto swarming enemy AI, then it'll just be another modern warfare FPS to me. Engine looks amazing though.

Edit: Also loved the sound. The echoing of the voices and bullets in the fire-fight sounded just right for the area.

I've bought every BF game, and I will probably buy this as well. For me, the best BF was 2142, Titan battles are great fun. I enjoyef BFVietnam, but the AI is screwy as hell.

I just hope BF3 is not just another Bad Company.

Yeah, I love that game. It was underrated, I think. In a sea of WW2/Modern Warfare games, it stands out as a benchmark in futuristic combat. I loved jumping into a mech on the more squad combat based games, and annihilating all the dug in troops, plus the cool hover tanks. That was a top game.

Does anyone here think this demo is pre-rendered?

I'm not up to date on how good PC graphics have got but I guarentee it will not look anything like that on the consoles.

Love battlefield though, don't understand all the love COD gets, battlefield online is far superior.

In what way? I thought BC2 is the best of the series (and I've played all of them). BC1 was definitely flawed, but they fixed almost everything wrong with it in BC2. I can't stand going back to a shooter without destructible environments after playing that game. I only play the multiplayer though, so I can't say anything about the singleplayer.

BF2 grafics aren't that bad, and BF3 has a great chance of being LOTS of fun. Everyone thinks now you can't have both together at once . I don't get it.

...You DO realize Battlefield 2 was probably one of the more realistic games, right? In terms of mechanics, it was very competitive and difficult at times, being as it took skill to play as opposed to the latest shooters.

Also, unfortunately body dragging isn't going to be in multiplayer, which I don't see why not. Not many people play single player games anymore.

I've been a fan of the Battlefield series since it was introduced, so I'll definitely be buying. The graphics remind me of a better version of Medal of Honor (2010). I hope it doesn't play as sloppy as it did.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

What I meant was that the majority of modern shooters contain:

-people yelling
-people swearing
-gore

I don't care for that stuff...I want to have fun, not a 'realistic' experience (unless it relates to the game mechanics, like in BF2).

Sloppy: The game was very very sloppy. The single player was good, but the multiplayer felt rushed and unfinished. Not to mention, the sniping hasn't been nerfed in the slightest. Not to mention, the online graphics were decent, but they reminded me of a grittier version of Bad Company 2's, so it felt like I was simply playing an extension.

Yah, Medal of Honor multiplayer was really bad. So many things went wrong, i dont have time to list them.

Didnt play singleplayer because as soon as i played multiplayer i turned it back in and got a refund.

The story for Medal of Honor was basically a homage to the soldiers who are serving at the moment. Problem is, the story was a bit dry and lacked any real plot. I know it's what really happens and it isn't Call of Duty, but to keep an interest in a story, you need to at least have somewhat of a plot line. Heck, even Mirrors Edge had a plot line, to a degree.

I don't understand what either of those have to do with realism in an FPS...

I don't either. I mean, even in unrealistic games like Killzone they're firing off the f-bomb every other sentence.

Good point. sort of skipped around, but it was very fun to me, COD has everyone spoiled with it's unrealisticness. I guess when people played MOH, it was a slap in the face when they couldn't get the spoils of fantasy world.

It's really looking good. I just hope the multiplayer isn't the same as Bad Company 2's, I want something different. I mean, don't get me wrong Bad Company 2 is amazingly fun, but it gets a bit boring at times.

I noticed they're re-using the HUD elements seen on Medal of Honor, as in the "look" and "feel" of them.

Also, it surprises me that this takes place in the future, and there is still any part of the Middle East still left.

Amen! I love MW2, but seriously, Infinity Ward and Activision have made too much money, time to let someone else in and be the one to take over the war gaming world.

I wouldn't exactly say, "for a good reason." Most of their money comes from previous customers. I don't care, no matter how bad a game might be, if you have a loyal fan base you have everything.

They Really have, if it wasn't for Modern Warfare 1 then MW2 and Black Ops wouldn't have near the fanbase that it has now, any fanboy will buy the game for it's name, the will never purchase the game based off it's own merits, i betcha if i made a shooter and named it Call of duty, i would get more 10x downloads than if it were another name.

When you buy a Call of Duty game you generally know what you're getting. That's what is attractive about it. If you like the Call of Duty formula of course you'll buy every game they put out. It makes perfect sense. Why wouldn't they want to cash in on it??? I personally love the single player campaigns. The multiplayer is usually a great time waster but all in all very frustrating to play because all the kiddies who spend 24x7 playing the game are way too good at it.
