http://www.jlmoondog.com

My website is finally up. After many months of delays and procrastination I've finally got the basics up. Still working on a decent style and look for changes within the week. A lot of work still to do and a lot of files to upload, should be fun and worth it in the end.

I'm also offering freelance work on my site, just email me with any questions. I'll also have a store up soon with some new media packs that I've been working on this year.

But my favorite part of the site is the Vault. This will be a large collection of free media for everyone to use royalty free for their own personal projects. Currently I only have 100 textures up for grabs, but over the next few days I plan to upload the rest of my free media from the past 3 years to the site.

I'd like some comments and crits on the site. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible, navigation and design wise. As stated before, the main design is wip and I plan on adding a better logo and maybe a backdrop.

Thanks for looking.

nice simple site, josh. keep it that way

i know it's WIP but the quote on More:
Quote: "I am ripper, slasher, 3d art and designer!"
doesn't make sense as-is.

it does need a new logo (it just reads wrong. needs like "JLMoondog - Freelance Artist", i think) but the background is just fine.

looking forward to more of your work being posted there (looks like you already added some more since i looked at it a couple hours ago).

Ah, I guess you didn't get the reference. I went ahead and changed it.

The logo is being changed as it's a bit hard to read. I'll be adding more content today after work also.

Thanks for the feedback.

Also, I noticed when you click the "vault" button, not the dropdown tab, it just shows up with a blank page.
Awesome site

Since I'll be adding a bunch of media to the vault I'm leaving that page blank until I have a set site-tree made, makes it easier on me.

Website updated with new content.

He has the actual vault button serving as a link. It doesn't actually do anything, he should just simply remove the hyperlink from it, it won't deter the jQuery effect.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I'll eventually add image links in those top tree pages for the rest of the pages. I know a lot of sites do this...and honestly I can't get the hyperlink off.

Updated the site again and I've added my Fiverr services to the store...I'll probably regret that. Basically I offer several services for only $5 a piece.

More free media to come. I'll be sending out some emails to other artists to help build the Vault. If anyone is interested in adding their own media(must be royalty free media) to the Vault, just email me the media with your information. You will get credits and if you wish I can direct people to your own personal site.

while watching your low poly mustang tuts, "watch on youtube" wouldn't work for me. dunno if it's an IE8 issue or ? otherwise, comments on them:

while watching, i couldn't help but feel they were more of a "skills showcase" vs actual tutorials. ts and wings are both software i intend to learn someday; i've played with ts in the past and found it difficult to begin with (i've slightly more experience with deled so ts is foreign to me) so, some basic notes while working (atleast current stage in the process and tools used) would be most helpful if they are intended for beginners like myself. also, 800x600, if possible, would improve effectiveness on the embedded vids.

and, jlmmoondog is inconsistent re: your youtube account vs website. "branding"-wise, i should be able to enter "jlmoondog" on google, youtube, etc, and find everything about you and your work in one fell swoop. otherwise, you're bound to lose interested parties as they'll have to take a couple extra steps to find some of your stuff (assuming they know more exists). since you've only the 2 tuts on youtube so far, now's the time to change it (jlmoondog is available there. i checked).

i'm a fan of your work, josh. keep up the good work

Actually JLMoondog isn't available... I actually didn't even realize that I had my youtube account as jlmmoondog...sigh

Oh well, I'll figure out something.

Also, I guess the word tutorial is misleading for those car videos. I really made them to show a time lapse of me building them rather then to teach how to build them. I plan to make some nice proper tutorials in the future.

Thanks for the suggestions. Site is improving every day.

sorry about that. i'd ran a search for it there and nothing showed so assumed there was none. the current jlmoondog hasn't logged in for over a year; worth a shot trying to contact him and see if he'd give it up? it's not the worst thing not having it but it would be nice.
