Well, to be fair, Le Shorte, most of the posts in that thread were your own..

As for this project, I'm following it with cautious interest. You've been showing a lot of bits and pieces so far that look good, it'll be interesting to see how it all works together.
Also, if the Wolfenstein menu theme in that video suggests that you're taking inspiration from good ol' Wolf 3D, I'll be very excited to see how that turns out.

@ le shorte I agree, lets get back on topic.

The New, New First Level:

After looking at the first level (again) we decided it best to re-work it again. This time maintaining consistent building styles and improved lighting. So far, it is looking damn good! Here are some screenshots to show it thus far.

That ceiling is awesome!
Though, I noticed that the rust on the bars is colored in the first shot, but not in the second.
And maybe add a little writing to the black board?

@ Le Shorte Thank you, me making that ceiling was part of the inspiration to re-invent the level.

When the first screenshot was taken the bars were still coloured as it was still a concept.

I'll see if I can't write something funny or relevant on that board just for you

@ EGG HEAD OF DOOM Thanks!

@ michael x What Ed said

@ Gutsplatt Good to know! But do't expect it too soon.

The First Level Is Done!

Though short in length it covers the most basic of game controls, walking, jumping crouching etc. More advanced topics are going to be covered in the Bunker based levels whist trying to 'activate' the 'machine' (no spoilers for anyone yet). However, in spite of its completion we will of course revise entity placement etc in the level to ensure we get good overall quality. Also, only the level design is currently complete so any .fpi scripts and sounds/voices are yet to be added.

Pre-Alpha Demo?

Yes, a Pre-Alpha demo of the game will be made availible when the bunker levels are completed. Giving testers more than a short minute(s) of gameplay. Hopefully it will be ready soon. Our aim is to have a polished version of the demo ready for the Defy The Odds competition. Now what would an update post be without a single screenshot?

@ Everyone At the current time progress is slow due to the fact that Ed is away on holiday, and I have been quite buzy this week. Though I can't say "Expect news soon," I can say "Expect news!"

Also, for those whom are blissfully unaware; this game has been entered into the Defy The Odds competition. Wish us luck.

Picking Work Back Up:

After a short break from development we are now back in the swing of things for Rouge, recently I have gone through the first level ensuring everything is as it should be; meaning some of the rooms have been re-designed.

Moddb:

Also, if you have a Moddb account it would mean a lot to us if you followed Rouge via Moddb also, this is partially due to the fact that updates may - and will - vary from what is on here and what is on Moddb.

No, it's not a conventional entrance. There are entrances on the other walls to justify the room. That is maintenance tunnel where you end up after a physics tutorial section.

Now it looks much more like a storeroom however no images until the next update post

A Little Update For You All:

We have recently been contacted through Moddb by a composer who wishes to write and compose music for Rouge. We are currently having talks about a contract that keep both parties (the composer and the ThoughtWire members legally sound). Though I didn't necessarily have to tell you that; I needed to update the thread anyway and that was quite a major point in the last few days of work.

Some nice visual stimulation for you as well:
