Been rather busy the last few days which gave me enough time to maul over a few things...I have added 7 new room segment types that obviously needs to be retextured and such.

But I have my first 3 or 4 levels, now I can start working on entities....blegh !!!!.

@star thanks got it....you are still my hero *wink*

From the new screenshots rather plain corridors but as with every room segment I test it out first and then add detail ect...in the first test I had to lower the ceiling a lot the end result is much better fit, wide corridor, that better compliments the lower roof.

Currently just the level walls and such without detail contains 215 custom meshes, and that is just for the first 4 levels or so....so we are looking at 500+ custom meshes for the odd 10 levels I am planing on doing, may contain more depending if I have to split the levels up for better performance.

Cool shadows on your earlier screenies on this page I like the later screenies too, but maby make the lights range a little further? Just a suggestion. Test it out, if you don't like it change it back

That is the main problem increasing it too much, and it is too bight, what I want to do is use smaller lights and keep the atmosphere dark... but still pretty well lit, shadows won't be spectacular but it is a trade off one has to make

A quick example, nice shadows but far too bright, use a smaller ranged light and the shadows aren't visible...

Why do I want to spoil the fun now...*hint* *hint* *grin*
Nope they are far too custom...it's not really that they are difficult to place, it's rather that they are paint by number blocks one room in particular has 50 meshes numbered room2_1_1A...ect.........meaning :

Room 2, mesh 1 , Height 1, Mesh Variance A

Mesh variances it also not compatible with other variances...

So with out a proper Guide, it would be hard figuring out what is what. You have to place every mesh in a room segment, failure would result in inverted normals and gaps.

That is rather weird, I have created another room, with gantry to test it.... and no problems

Currently working on Doom Movie inspired segments. This one is from near the of the movie small access corridor that leads to the ark.

I think I must have watched certain parts of the movie 20 or 30 times, to check out pipes, light sources, floors, grates and doors.

Since I have all the base meshes all ready done and tested I can start implementing some of the ideas I liked from the movie...

One thing I will be doing here is add the wall lights I liked from another scene, the lights are hidden behind an X shape support beam and just the glow from it is visible...

I tried this in the new room 8, but it needs some tweaking as the round little spots of light completely destroys the look...Will have to tweak that section, indenting it will allow only for the glow.

That film had nothing at all to do with Doom!

I love the amount of custom, none standard rooms
I really like your grate shadows.(Must take a while to render)
There are a bit too many grate shadows, which will make it feel quite dull and repetitive, so I'd recommend not using as many or making them smaller or more subtle.

I like the attention to detail with the small lights at the base of walls

Why does my grammar/spelling suck so much?!?!?

True enough some segments would be nice. Not sure if I want to release them. It's been a while since I have started working on a game.Every one else using the same segments for their games, would make my game not really unique. So if I do it will be only after my game has been released... at least another 4 - 6 months.

Slowly adding segments to replace placeholders....

Quite like the light platforms made 3 different sets with and without light and grates..

Looks good, but after making all the levelparts and segments you really need to add more detail with some entitys if the memory limit allows that.
But looks nice!!!

Still busy with the entity part.Build the basic level layout now for detail as such.

Added the other platforms, what I wanted was that every second platform contain a top light source. The stock grates place holder have been removed completely.

Just have to replace the stairs fix the corners and deadend's and make a little ramp for the platform..I Like the way it is evolving...

Finally ! Platform done. Place holder stairs removed corners fixed and yellow lights tweaked...Yip this is my new favorite room.

Now I can start work on the entities and metal supports for this room as well as add the X shaped light supports. As well as some minor tweaks to the ceiling...

This looks completely amazing WOI! At first glance, I would never think it was fpsc. After viewing all of you screens, I can't wait to play this! I have but one crit for you, and this is only if your player is to be human. On this screenie:

That ramp is far to steep to be usable. I think about at least another half segment is necessary. Of course, this is on mars, with space pirates, so I suppose if the player isn't human, or is blasting their way through this area, then no worries. Just a suggestion

I would have to agree, it is a bit steep, the main problem is believe it or not, space so one has to make a trade off some where...

Dude, this is brilliant work. It's so complex. What I mean is, the level geometry is just so unique and complex that I wouldn't even guess this was an FPSC-based game.

The levels kinda remind me of Red Faction 1 and 2.

So currently just working on creating textures and testing them out.

The new set is nice for the deeper sections of the mars base, but getting topside the grey concrete isn't going to stay that way.

So more brownish, reddish concrete is needed.I like it but perhaps requires a little more red...

This also means changing the girders and metal supports to better match the concrete, a more rustic look...

Hi guys.

Wow been that long already. I am still working on this. Was without a computer the last couple of months, due to my AMD operton system blowing up (literally).

At least I sourced a older P4 System for the time being... (:
And all work as such has been backed up, so no harm done.

So see you guys soon with new updates.

Well I decided a slight redesign is in order.I have always gone with the walls being sloped the same way.Instead the walls now I differently sloped which is much better suited. The door sections have been improved on as well.

The ceiling redesigned as well. But the over all design is similar if not better.
