Edit: "In fact, how would I sell this?"

I'm selling my old PC because I use now is my laptop. Spec's:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo

RAM: 2GB 2Rx8 PC2

Hard Drives: 900GB HD Space (Split into 2 internal HD's (80GB and 320GB) and one 500GB external HD)

Keyboard: Razer Reclusa Gaming Keyboard (With back lit keys)

Disk Drive: DVD R/RW,CD R/RW Disk drive. (I have no clue the exact specs)

Extra Addons: Internal PCI capture card that can record cable input, RCA, S-Video.

Internal Wireless adapter.

Case: Dell XPS 710 Case w/ LED lit front and back (color customizable)

Monitors: Dell 1680x1050 Monitor

Aser 1280x1024 LCD Monitor

Current OS: Windows 7 Ultimate.

The Problem:

a while back, my video card broke (BFG Tech NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT). I have yet to figure out the exact reason it broke, but I think I recall someone saying something about the paste being disconnected? Every time I start my PC, I just get red and blue lines on both of my monitors.

My budget for a new video card is only $40 >.> , should I just buy a really cheap $60 video card and put that in or would it not be worth it and just sell it without the video card?

If possible, how would I fix my broken card?

Gawsh, the PC you're putting up is better than mine!

I feel old now.

I am in the process of selling mine off too as I have to save up for my gap year, I've found that it is better to break it up and sell each part individually. If possible try and look for someone you know who will buy it (which could include anyone on TGC), because you can settle on a price and be done with it; if you sell on eBay you have to pay them a 10% commission on whatever you get for it.

Just looking at it you could make about £150 - £200 for selling off the hard drives, processor, RAM and motherboard. That said I've just looked and I've seen a couple with the same spec as yours on eBay for £200. The monitors I would definitely sell separately, they'll get around £100 each if not more.

I have a feeling that the case is propriety Dell, meaning standard motherboards won't fit and thus the only people that will buy it are those looking for a replacement case.

Honestly, I'd only say about $350 at most. The specs aren't exactly competitive for todays standards, being as it is a 4 year old PC.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Yeah, the PC is only worth about 300 bucks. I have a better rig and it is worth about 450 bucks. For the monitor and accessories,I would say 250.

BTW,you can fix your graphics card by removing the cooler and plastic parts, put it into the oven(not microwave!) for like 8 minutes at 180 degrees, assemble back and it should work.

What exactly is the science behind that?

Basically it lifts and separates the solder that can often becomes messed up in a GPU's lifetime. I've only read a few cases of this working efficiently for more than a week.

yes. I have a £30 Graphics card (I think it's only $45 in the US because everything's expensive in the UK) and that runs everything I throw at it, at least at medium specs (it's a radeon HD 4550) and can run 2 screens easy enough at more than HD resolution.

Argh! 1 pound~=1.6 USD. That translates to like 3USD cheaper in the US.

?? Ebay doesn't take a commission... the buyer sends the money directly to the seller.

Where I worked until last Thursday would likely have given you £100 for it (maybe push to £120) and they'd sell it for £249.99, it might be worth less to them because it's harder to sell a faulty item. I find unless you're desperate for cash, you're better off trying eBay or selling it online elsewhere because pawnbrokers and second hand stores can't afford to give you a lot of money and you can get the most possible for it, if you think about it, you can sell it for roughly the same price as a second hand store would.

I'm going to sell each part individually, I figured that would work out to the best in my favor. I just put up some local ad's online and some flyers, I will get something eventually. It's not that I'm strap for cash, it just that I'm trying to get rid of the thing for some space around my desk.

Ebay charges you after the bidding has ended.
