So... ive been here a little bit and ive noticed some things about this forum... maybe inherent maybe not. This seems to be a entry level to average level entry level forum that focuses on users who are hobby users and beginners.

Here are some things that i notice that make the experience here less then notable. (Keep in mind that this forums residents are much more personable then most other forums.. so good work in that respect and good work to the mods for filtering out the riff raff.) One thing that i try and do when i post is the following:

a)realize the position of the poster and his intentions... be critically helpful.

b)If the poster is unreasonable; avoid a flame war by ignoring the thread. (Im guilty of this as is everyone else that ive seen here so far.) Let people get the hint by letting their thread die.

c)This is the most important concept... when you post this is what i do. Make believe the person and you are not buffered by the internet... and that the person you actually replying to is a real person.. (which most of us are) You wouldnt put someone down so easily if the person is sitting in front of you... why would you here... they say that peoples morality and character is defined by the character you expose behind closed doors... this is pretty much the definition of that... no one here knows you personally... so pretend that they someday will... be respectful if you have to correct someone, and dont post if your just going to be a rear.

this community is much more personable then most ive been associated with. This seems to be a very harsh hobby / career selection with many objectionable personalities, this is not the case here... but we can improve still. Smile and enjoy interacting with people here.

I know that this is all outlined in the rules for posting but consider this a refresher and a reminder. It never hurts to learn to be a better you... lol

It might just be my state of mind, but I read

I agree. Wholeheartedly, good sir.

I agree. There's really no point in posting if it's just to belittle the other person. Constructive criticism is fine - even a good thing - but courtesy is important too, especially when you're criticising somebody.

Also... maybe this is just me, but does anyone else get the feeling that sometimes people post to make their own voices heard, rather than to add to the discussion? There are times when I've written something which I think might be interesting and which people might like to comment on, but it's often followed by a series of responses which seem to ignore almost every post in the thread, simply announcing the poster's opinion rather than developing the debate.

This is not just a feature of this forum, by the way; it's a feature of most. It just annoys me that people can be more eager to make themselves heard than to say something insightful.

This happens far too much, in my opinion.

I wouldn't be surprised if some idiot turns this into a flame war about 'free speech' or such. It's in peoples nature to argue over the most stupid thing.

Which is why we need moderators.

lol im not so sure that this was a good idea... just an obsevation... sometimes i get 'genius' momments when im not in the right state of mind... which for some odd reason had been alot lately... . The point i guess is yeah its inherently internet style to make everyones day misserable when you dont ever see that person... but it ruins communities if it goes unchecked, and i think things like this are valueble to people who want to learn. Its a shame that other sites with great resourses and excellent talent, let thier established members run rampant and shut everyone down. So part of this also is aplauding this forum, because for the most part its not like that here. I guess i just didnt actually take into acount the possible effect of a post like this.

I personally enjoy stating the negatives of things. All too many times, people only really see the positives, but having a good debate means being able to accept the positives but also knowledgeably state the negatives. Some people assume I have a bad attitude, when in reality I dislike anything that is incredibly overrated / mainstream, not to mention I often seem negative, but in reality I can appreciate the goods in a product, but you also need to recognize the bads. This can be said for ANYTHING. Why should someone have to suppress their opinion on something? I never understood that, honestly. Sure, some people might not like your opinion, but if someone says they like something, and posts about it, why are you not supposed to post bad things about it?

As for other things, I agree. There is always a group of people on ANY forum that exists solely to put people down. Sure, we sometimes post things that could be taken offensive, I do it, a number of people do it, but this is all part of a forum's anatomy.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I think you are probably right in that this isnt the best place in the world, and I guess that its everyones goal to always strive to be better.

But this is still the internet, and the internet is not a nice place.
