I was feeling nostalgic and was wondering how I made my 'entrance' into these forums..

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=67636&b=1

Hmm, seems I was a bit irate about the 'approval system'.. but the thread is a good read, and shows how I was 'Handled' and welcomed by the community and mods. LoL. I was obviously upset, but reading the thread over again I was at least civil in my attitude. And by the end of the thread I was finally past the approval stage of the forums.

I've come a long way since then and I was right when I said "I think I'll like it here.", I do, I really do.

So, what was your first memory/post here on the forums?

Cheers!

Man I loved the Space Empire games...

It took me a while for me to make a thread actually. My only introduction was in the Team Requests board and that no longer exists.

I'll post my first and only newb-slap instead.

Somebody might be offended by my stupidity, but hey, I was too used to name-calling my friends that way and didn't even acknowledge it was homophobic.

I too hated the thread approval wait, and the "magical formula" that occurred to let you post freely.

It took me a year I think to make a login and then post a message. So wasn't till sometime in 2000 that I did anything. Unfortuantly the old forum is gone so I can't dig mine out

I know what it was though. I was having problems rolling a ball around convincingly in 3D. So after trying and failing for about a week I posted a help request. Dr Avalanche at the time was really the big name for decent DBC stuff and he had this great Marble madness type demo. He posted some code that sorted me out. He also left it slightly crippled so I had to alter it myself to make it work. Nice one.

Cheers

I have you all beat. My first post (Nov 2002) was asking a question about how to do something for a game I am still working on. Yes that was 8+ years ago.

I don't know what you mean by "old forum", I was on RGT forums for a little bit and when that was failing I joined TGC forum Nov 2002. I could have used the help! I still don't know how static collision objects work in DBPro, but I don't need to because I have Newton.

I'm currently "slapped" right now, but I too find it a bit annoying, still, especially being that only 1/10 of my posts actually make it on the boards. Oh well, it's up tomorrow so it doesn't really matter.

Anyway, my first post was about texture issues. Pending how long I've been around here, very few topics were made.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

My first post isn't very entertaining.

This was my first post in Geek Culture. No one knew who I was.

The one that was on this site before this one. If you notice a lot of us have Aug 26th 2002 as our joined date. That was the date Rich created the new forum and we moved over. I remember asking him at the time why he didn't reset the dates to our original start dates but I think he lost them or something. I think I signed up in the middle of 2000 (within a month of Indi) and then in the end had a bit of an OCD moment battling for the top 3 post positions. Think I was third when the forum died (Indi was miles higher).

Infact check this out from 2001. Think that was from just before I started ramping up the posts. 8th place! Whoo!

I think I joined the original forums in January of 2000. I don't think there are too many oldbies left that were around when the original forums were alive.

This is my first thread...

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=1717&b=5

Anyone remember DB World Map? - that was pretty cool if I do say so myself . My first DB post was probably a couple of years before that, looking for a model of a mountainbike or something - always wanted to make a decent MB game, maybe one day.

Nope not many. Yeah I joined a little after that but only once I could think of a question to ask. I think I was reading the forum for almost a year before I joined it. Aaaah, the good old days...

Heh, you look at the waybackwhen history and it looks like DBP was a small amount of time after DBC came along. But I think I bought DBC somewhere around the end of 1999 and it was an *age* before DBP came along Heheh, I remember writing a stats plugin and some other effort for reformatting the code in the original DBP IDE when it came out. Seems almost like a different person it was so long ago!

My first 4 posts were all in the code snippet section, with very few replies.
