Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible to calculate how much power my computer uses per hour based on my specs, hopefully without having to buy a power monitor or something xD

Can somebody tell me if this is possible?

Thanks

Total up all the power ratings of the components in your system. If you can't do that then take the power rating of your PSU and subtract about 50/100W (assuming you're not running it at full load) and multiply it by 60^2.

That will give you how much energy you are using every hour. You cannot calculate power per hour because power is the rate of work done (energy conversion).

Hope that helps,
Mike

I got a nice power monitor for about 30usd. It's come in handy on a number of other occasions too.

I use it to make sure I'm not overtaxing PSUs. I last used it to find out why my my freezer keeps tripping an outlet. Turns out it pulled too many amps (which was my guess, but I wasn't sure if the outlet was bad), so I just moved it to a standard outlet that doesn't have a trip on it.

It's come in handy when replacing outlets. It's just all around a handy thing to have in a person's toolbox.

Changed your name from "Mad Nightmare", Indicium, as you asked in your email request.

My UPS has a power monitor on the front of it so I can just check the load whenever I want.
