Hello everyone;

It's been a while since Ive posted here - maybe a year since my last program announcement.

I wonder if anyone here wants to do another community member a favour? My request is too geeky for the general population!

Does anyone have a copy of 24, season 8 on DVD or blu ray? Or even, heavin forbid, as a torrented high quality file of all the episodes?

In one of the episodes - which I will look up timecodes/numbers for if anyone responds - Jack is trying to difuse a bomb. He runs out of time and pushes the man wearing the bomb into a medical vat, just in time to get blown to pieces. Anyone who watched season 8 will remember this.

Basically; Im looking for someone to grab a certain shot in this scene frame by frame so I can rotoscope it for an animation project!

Most people I know with the DVD/Blu ray dont know how to frame grab and unfortunately my DVD player is broken...

Thoughts welcome, fellow geeks!

If you liked Prison Break you are into a certain kind of "mainstream" action/drama niche of television viewing. 24 fits into that but really turns things up a notch.

Yes, you will like 24. It can be slow and it can be over the top so give it a fair chance. I rate it above Prison Break and I love both.

One more thing; if I had to pitch 24 to a friend here is how I would sell it.

It's a real time TV show which means there is always a bomb ready to go off or some kind of impending threat that must be stopped. The difference between 24 and other TV shows ISN'T the real time gimmick - its the fact that the show has serious balls. It kills off main characters, detonates nuclear bombs and generally doesn't follow a predictable pattern. If there is a bomb and the timer is ticking, it really is 50/50 whether it will go off. For this reason, it is rivetting.

24 is definitely worth watching, season 3 is my favourite, but of course, watch them in order. Sadly I've only got up to season 6 on DVD and I've not actually watched 7 or 8 yet.

To put it simply, Jack Bauer is God. There's plenty of action without it going Michael Bay on you. (Where if there's action, it's a part of the plot, not because it looks so badass)

You really have to suspend your disbelief in order to watch 24. Jack Bauer often gets stabbed or shot, but is fully healed by the next episode (which is only supposed to be one hour later).

The show is also very pro torture, which some people (like me) strongly object to.

Aye, it seems torture solves one too many problems. Thankfully it's fiction and doesn't have to be taken seriously, torture makes the plot more intense, so it's a question of: are they supporting torture as part of some message or are they just using it to intensify the plot? Personally, with Jack Bauer's constant beatings and them killing off main characters, I think the latter.

I suppose you can just think Die Hard without the cheesy one liners, completely and utterly unrealistic but still entertaining to watch.

Yeah, but it was the cheesy one-liners that made Die Hard so fun. For me, at least.

I think season 5 was the best out of them all

i watched season 1 and it was pretty good, i still have no idea how the charecters could withstand more than 30 hours (i assume he was up all day before the start ofg the show) with no coffee at all or any other... substances. Its difficult to imagine especially for me since when it comes to trying to stay awake coffee dosent help me at all
