Just a general question (I typed some thing else out and it got erased because of my state with drinking XD)

What are your experiences with drinking at social gatherings? Do you hold your own and keep control? Or do you have blank spots the next day leaving you wondering what happened?

The last party I went to, was a birthday and I had a few drinks before leaving (maybe 1.5 of a double 3 times and then a single before leaving) This might have ruined my night out, but I also have suspicions that someone might have drugged my drink, that or I didn't eat enough to soak the vodka doubles up.

Share your stories, if any.

wouldn't surprise me as apparently 1 in 10 drinks are spiked.

I have very good control and don't actually drink when out, mainly because I don't like the taste and everythings expensive, I'd rather save up for some gadge xD

though I do remember(ish) the first time I got drunk. I let my friend slap me as hard as he could, about 3 hours later I was vomiting everywhere

I use that excuss often.
-Why cant you come in todays guest lecture on battleships?
mio- Well paul last night i was spiked
-How do you know?
mio- Because i drank at least 12 drinks yesterday so at least one of them where drugged...

But thanks to a high metabolism im normally sober by the time the bars kick us out. Black spots? nope.

Stories?
BaaBar (shot bar in Liverpool One)
34 free shots, not good for anyones health...
With the usual 5-6 drinks ontop. Expensive? the drinks no, i can have a very good night out for £20 but it costs £13-16 in taxis home ontop.

All in all drinking is great for meeting new people and socialising. Just do it in moderation and your fine.

In the short term it raises self esteem making you confident, however, the repercussions of this will hit you like a brick when you wake up and realise that this is your life and it's ending one minute at a time, that you CANNOT break the first rule, nor the second and now that the club has moved out of the basement it can only be mayhem.

And when people think you're dying, they really, really listen to you, instead of just waiting for their turn to speak...

I've had a few fun experiences, a few bad. Mostly bad. Generally you have to find someone who isn't drunk to drive with home, and if not, you end up crashing on someone else's couch for a night, which leads to awkward morning conversation.

Not to mention, the hangovers afterward aren't really fun to deal with. Generally I only drink a bit here and there, once I feel a bit more "light" I stop.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I have yet to find a drink I like the taste of. I used to know people that drank this stuff called "White Lightning." It was marketed as cider...but it, well, I dunno what it is.

That stuff is vile. You can't beat a good glass of Devonshire cider, and I'm in the prime location! I make my own, and moonshine too But depending on where you live it would be illegal and thus is not such a good thing to discuss as no doubt it is against AUP. But brewery we can talk about, anyone else do it?

I seem to be resistant to alcohol - I've been know to drink metric tonnes and remain completely sober. This is completely useless to me however, as I almost never drink (Only at Christmas).

I might just be being a cheap skate here but I don't think White Lightning is that bad, I know it's target audience is the homeless but it's nicer, cheaper and gets me drunk quicker than Strongbow/Gaymers

I try to stick at that limit, you know right before everything loses meaning and time and you lose control of the drinking. Learned that after i woke up in my shower half naked soaking wet.

Maybe quit drinking? That sure is an option, there are other... Options... Hmm... *Ponder ponder*

I never get hangovers, never feel that bad when I wake up, the only thing I really feel, is a bit thirsty and a little wobbly.

I just hate it when the alcohol takes over and you start talking crap, stuff you wouldn't normally say or do and no its not the persons true self coming out, because that's also crap.

I used to drink a *lot* but since getting a bit older, getting a bit more married, and getting a bit more mortgagey then I have cut it down a *lot*.

Personally I am not much different drunk, but I did used to black out a fair bit too. There wasn't many times anything terrible happened in those spots. Once or twice...

Best advice ever is to drink at least a pint of water before sleeping. Someone told me this when I was about 19 and I ignored it for the best part of 20 years. Eventually a couple of years ago I decided to try it and it's great for avoiding hangovers! Much better.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I've had beer and coolers in my fridge since November. Usually the only time I drink is socially at a restaurant, or at a family event. I wouldn't have a problem with drinking around my kids if I had them, because someone who is responsible with alcohol is not a problem. To each his own.
