I bought my first pair of Solomons back in 2001 and they sure took a beating until the frames finally broke beyond use last spring (they didn't use universal frames yet and the company no longer makes skates). With summer just around the corner I thought I'd buy some new ones with my tax return, I can't go another summer without skating. If anyone else here skates I'm curious about your opinions on some other models.

I'd like not to go over $300, and the Aragon 4 is down to $300 now, so that's my pick for right now. I was also viewing some USD kelso carbon skates for $250, carbon fiber boots and claim to be the lightest skate out there. My old ones were around 5lbs each, so I'm not that concerned with weight but wondered how it'd be to skate with a few pounds less on me.

I inline, but I'm still using walmart blades with the wheels taken out, till I can get some actual skates. As for which blades, it really depends on your preferences. I prefer lighter skates, with only a grinding plate on the bottom. (Then again that might be because I stink) The Aragon 4 looks like a solid skate. Maybe if you provided a bit more details on what you do it could help us pick one out for you.

A couple of grinds, acid, soul, front/backsides and still learning the others, I got a late start on grinding. I like doing stalls on basically anything I can jump up to and misty flips.
My skates were just heavier than most of whats out there now and after so many years I'm quite accustomed to the weight. I'm sure I'd like lighter skates, but I don't see a heavy skate bothering me at all.

Based on the following: Still learning, and they will take a beating, I would recommend:
http://www.rollerblade.com/products_detail.php?channel_id=9&id_prodotto=1387

You can switch out, remove, replace, etc etc all of the parts. I can't find the weight on it, but I'm sure its not bad. You might want to check for a better price.

PS: I'm no expert, so you should wait for a few others to voice their opinions as well.

I'm always learning, but I'm no beginner. I've been at this for 10 years or so on a regular basis.

I never said you were. Those aren't beginners blades, trust me. They just aren't... professional. And even the pros are always learning.

Only if those stellar knee pads are included!

Well, I just purchased the Aragon 4 skates. I found another website that sold them for only $280, so with $20 for 3-day shipping, I basically paid the same price but get them quicker. And shortly after I submitted the order, I found another site that sold them for $300 but had free 2-day shipping (plus free pair of socks!). Oh well, considering its 3am, there's a chance the order will be processed today (Friday) and I should have them before next weekend. The downside is it's suppose to rain and snow for the next week.
