My dad wanted to get netflix on his TV. I would just give him my bluray player but apparently I can't get it on '09 models. So I checked out netflix's compatible devices to see what's out there. The Roku looked pretty nice for $80, then I saw the new Apple TV for $100.

I don't know when they redesigned it, but it used to be the size of my airport router. It's barely 4" now!

Stupid Apple only supports 720, not 1080 like the cheaper Roku.

Wii costs twice as much and I have no need for game consoles nor do I want to control things on my tv with a game controller.

The Apple TV is quite tiny. It's been out about as long as the iPhone4 if I remember correctly.
My sister got the Roku for Christmas last year. She loves it. She uses it for Netflix mainly and she thinks it's the best thing. It's also tiny. I might be a little wider and deeper than the AppleTV, but it's a lot shorter. I couldn't get over how tiny that thing is!

Your mother has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120
