If its for DirectX/OpenGL game, Fraps is the only choice.

Fraps isn't free though, the trial version limits you to 30sec plus a watermark.

This is true, but I always found it the best nonetheless. I bought the full version (which is cheap) quite a few years ago (too long ago to remember) and am still getting free updates, so it's money well spent.

I use HyperCam on my non-fullscreen stuff, I use fraps for recording games. I'm gonna have to look into Camstudio though!


My software never has bugs, it just develops random features.

yeah, it's actually pretty good, small download size too! i find it handy for asking questions about bugs or posting youtube vids, hope it's what you're looking for!

Microsoft Expression Encoder, by far the best free screen capture software IMO
