A few months ago I was doing what everyone else does and searches for their fav games on YT, and came across a video from thailand made by ONE guy, he recreated a spoof FFVII game, fll 3D and fully scripted'ish however it goes to show IT CAN BE DONE!

I do not mean to recreate the entire game, just the best scenes maybe, the whole game would be awesome haha and then we could contact S-E and say hey guys, buy this off us ^^

and I do not mean HD graphics either, just as corny as the original was but in 3D.

hope I get some good feedback from this, and if your gonna say 'this is impossible' just do not bother posting, as I have NO INTENTION to make an attempt at this myself for a while until I get more proficient at DBPro and LUA scripting as well as a few other things...

however in regards to copyrights, were making it as a community project and not to make any money, so legally we would be ok, it would be just like making a yt fan video.

so post away, lets see what this entails ^^

OH AND YEAH there are ready made .x (as well as many other formats) character models from FFVII (as well as other FF game characters) available on the web (obviously), if they need to be purchased I dont mind buying them lol as i will 100% be making something related to FFVII in future.

AND PLEASE FOR THE GOOD OF GAMING AND PROGRAMMING AND DEV THIS IS JUST FOR FUN SO PLEASE DO NOT BE A NEGATIVE PERSON!

EDIT

heres a link to YT, but you could also just search for Final Fantasy 7 remake there are plenty even 2D lmao.

I just really dislike the turn based stage kind of combat. It's too far removed from reality/immersion for me! But I don't want to turn your thread into a "who likes FF" thread, so let me just say good luck and it sounds worth a try, cos there are lots of FF fans out there.

Unfortunately, this isn't true. If we were to distribute a remake, even if it's free, then SE could easily throw a hissy fit and bring out their lawyers. For example:

http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/

The above project was a 3D Chrono Trigger remake that a team had in the works, but Square Enix sent them a Cease and Desist letter to prevent them from continuing. Such projects, especially if successful provide competition, for example: detract from sales on the Playstation Store or affect sales on any future repackages or even a remake if they ever decide to make one.

It's a shame because it looks really, really good, personally I think it would have been better if they spent their time and effort on their own original work. So my suggestion here is the same. Why not do something in a similar style to FFVII, which is something I've been meaning to do for years, well my own turnbased JRPG anyway.

Maybe when my Dark Game Studio Bonanza Arrives (all nice and shiny extras ) I'll get back to doing one of my JRPG projects.

Seppy, yeah I was thinking the very same thing,
just make something borderline ^^
(love that song Chihiro Onitsuka ^^ shes fit too >.<

You dont already have all the Dark Basic Boanza stuff?
but you have been here since the dark ages... shocked
(however you said extras, so I am presuming you just dont have some of the extras ^^ DarkPhysics etc or something like that)

Yeah, if you like when you got it, (as you can tell I have it too ^^)

We can try to make something of the sorts, A & D doesnt incur a penalty so they got lucky (however I have heard of a group who did get a $10.000 penalty because the other company claimed they were already selling the product, not true as it was still in development... arses)

Dude, quit double posting in the threads. It's irritating because you're fake bumping everything.

Dark Basic Pro, yes, Dark Game Studio Bonanza, no - I figure all the extra fancy stuff is worth the £30 alone.

VIII was awesome, VII and VIII I've played more times than I can remember, VIII in particular, because I wasn't stupid enough to sell it (I had both on PC, both are rare), I originally paid £5 for FFVII, so I was thinking I was profiting, my thought was, "I've completed it enough, I'm not going to want to play it again." I was wrong. Now FFVII PC is selling for £50-£100 and I've seen FFVIII PC for £100 too.

In fact, I started playing FFVIII again recently, I am surprised to see that in Vista (my last play through) I have to do plenty of tweaking to get it to work, even then there were graphical glitches, but in Windows 7, it runs perfectly, no tweaks and no graphical glitches.

I actually still own my PC version of FFVII and FFVIII as well as their PSone counterparts. I couldn't get them to run on PC, though I've recently upgraded to Win 7 so now I have to give them a try. Honestly I'm a sucker for love story's so that's why FFVIII tops VII for me. :

how is everybody today anyway? it was my bday yesterday so wasnt here...

I think my blog might benefit some of the new DBPro users as i will be posting almost everything I learn as it will also serve as a notebook for me

(I am offering one of these blogs soon and thinking to run a competition for it ^^)
