This is pretty amazing. I'd like to know what engine they're using. Phenomenal work, and I'm excited for when it comes out!

It feels a lot like UE3, and the font being the same as used in UT3 is a bit of a giveaway. Looks pretty awesome, but will it bring much over the conventional shooter?

It looks awesome, but all I could think throughout the whole thing was how light the mechs must be, they were barely making footsteps.

Is it me or are indie games becoming better than professional games?
This looks beautiful, I would get bored very quickly though

Looks very good. I'd be more interested in the single player/co-op modes though. Not very interested in a mech deathmatch game.

Great indeed. I'm 99% positive they used UDK. I remember reading through the WIP a few weeks back and seeing a game that looked a lot like this, looking for that thread now...

here it is
from the blog post:
Quote: "This breathtaking footage is from Hawken, a first-person multiplayer mech game that’s being developed by an indie studio of 9 people, including the talented artist Khang Le (whom you may remember as part of the ill-fated Project Offset). Adhesive Games is using UDK to create the game"

Yeah the audio was great, I was expecting it to be the worst part.

That Would be awesome!, since my computer isn't the best in the world, i'd have to set it to low quality and wouldn't get the full experience, plus lag, so hopefully, they'll put it on PSN or Live, (Hopefully Both) I'd Definitely buy it.

This might be a dumb question, but can the UDK be used in conjunction with XNA?

And the sound does sound great. Jeku you know of a homepage that we can look at for this? Pretty awsome.

Omg another mech game, me and my dad are huge fans of the game series mechwarrior. I cant wait to play this, hopefully you can still customize your mech like in good old mechwarrior

I thought the visual design is astounding. The simplified shapes and realist-ish textures make for a great combination, and the actual HUD makes everything look great. I have to agree with Jeku the sounds are really good, too.

I've been keeping an eye on Hawken for a while, they just keep getting better.

It reminds me a lot more of the original Armored Core for PS than Mechwarrior. The strafing, jumping, boosting, HUD, noises from combat like the near death noise, all reminds me of AC on steroids! Looks sweet!

@Phaelax: No. XNA doesn't support such large/powerful engines. If you're going to be using C#, I'd say don't use XNA and instead use UDK. Or, go full third party... You have more options that way.

Although, before anyone can speak up, I guess XNA's a good start for beginners.

But, no... It doesn't support UDK.

Yay! i was right! but yeah, UDK is pretty awesome, i was experimenting with the free version a few weeks ago and fell in love with the fracture tool, the awesome lighting system, and the beautiful graphics, all ran right on my laptop without much of a problem!

I mean... "Technically," you could port from UDK to XNA. But, that would require you to have access to the source code of UDK. Then, you would have to convert the C++ code of the UE to the C# that XNA uses. And, even then, I say "technically," because from there, I think such a powerful engine would crash XNA!

[Quick EDIT] Although, if you were able to pull that all off, you could make the sweetest Xbox Arcade game ever! I mean, I doubt the game you'd make would suck if you were good enough to accomplish that feat. Haha.
