hmm I wouldnt mind a dabble in dll's any good quality compilers that dont take up huge amounts of space. Dont really want to shell out for the full microsoft C++.

I remember Borderland producing a free compiler at some point? was a few versions behind. Ill go check their site.

borland even, man its been a long time. hmmm well theres a free 5.5 compiler & debugger. Dosent look like it supports XP though . Ah well good for a laugh, at least I can play a bit. lets see if you get an icon designer too hehe.

The Standard version of C++ .NET is around £70

The only real problem with the standard version is aside from the fact that some of the projects that are found in the more expensive version are missing, the optimisation system is somewhat limited...

I shelled out the $300 for the Borland C++ Builder 5 Professional Upgrade AND the $100 for Microsoft C++ .NET Standard... Like em both!
