Capital cities tend to be determined by trade routes, rivers, population etc; they're not chosen because they're on the right of the country as the borders of countries shift due to wars, states gaining independence etc, this means that the capital could be in a different location, as far as the orentation of the country is concerned, to where it was when it was founded.

Also I would like to correct you, London is the capital of England, not the UK

... also, Edinbrugh is to the right

Incorrect, whilst the individual nations of the UK have their own capitals, (England = London, Wales = Cardiff, Scotland = Edinburgh and Northern Ireland = Belfast), London is also the capital of the whole of the UK.

oh no, we don't need two Scottish inhabitants arguing about their heritage, that should be an English/Scots war!

Although I disagree with any feuds, I live in a beautiful part of England (Yorkshire) but I still love Scotland.

No feud from my point of view, even though I'm English and living in Scotland! I was simply correcting a mistake that had been made

why would all capitals be on the right anyway? It's not as if people even had proper maps when most capitals were established. This is like seeing a guy wearing glasses and a red jumper and saying "You know something interesting? All people who wear glasses also wear red jumpers!"

let the war begin!
only joking, I was not aware of that, personally I live in Edinburgh and I guess I have been offended by the question I've recieved more than a couple times whilst visiting relatives, "So where in England is Scotland?".

Yes, I agree, it annoys me too, when people refer to the UK as England. The Americans seem to be particularly bad for this.

It's even more annoying when people talk about England fighting in WW2. What about the sacrifices the rest of the UK made? I actually have Scottish blood (my Dad is 1/2 Scottish) and the Scottish Regiments are some of the finest in the British Army.

Yeah, I was going to go with "which direction you're facing" but that just seemed too silly.
