on all previous computers ive had, since i started programming i have replaced notepad with something like notepad++ or notepad2.
I remember having to get permissions, but im pretty sure it was alot easier than the trouble im having now (even on 32bit win7).
It says i require permission from the trusted installer, but most tutorials i look at dont work for some reason (like click a grayed out button).

does anyone have any ideas?

Have you turned off UAC?

ahh, it seemed i needed to turn of UAC and activate the administrator account before it let me do the procedure.
