Hi folks,

I've just completed a website design for the Minecraft server I help moderate, I would be honored if you would take a look and give me your feedback on its looks/usability and any other comments:

Many thanks!

Simple and effective. It won't win design contests, but it'll definitely do for its purposes.

And awww, /spawnmob creeper 20 doesn't go? Bummer.

The main problem that I find, is with the buttons. The buttons themselves are too plain, look like something that you'd find on a free-hosted site. Instead of loading a new page when you click one of the first three buttons, you should just have it change the centre information part.

I agree about the buttons. I don't know what to suggest about them, but they struck me as wrong right away. Other than that it works well and all the rest fits together and works nicely.

Brian.

EDIT: Maybe just text instead of the button boxes.

Do some work on the graphics, that's about it. Oh, perhaps get some real pictures from your server, not just ones you pulled off of the Minecraft Museum site.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Thanks for feedback, how interesting!

With regard to the buttons, I opted for a pure CSS, no graphic look because I've been seeing an increasing amount of studios adopt this "flat colour" look. I also thought that it played will with the theme of Minecraft. But your comments are certainly welcome.

With regard to budokaimans comment on the static header and footer, I felt that with only 4 pages to create, a CMS would be a little overkill on a website that will remain, for most part, untouched after launch. Had there been more pages or dynamic content, I would certainly opt for some sort of framework.

Crispex, all the images are from the server.

Thanks again people!

I think it looks pretty good. I think that in:
Quote: "If you wish to request that your name be added to the CubeCraft whitelist, please join the forum and explain while you'll be a suitable candidate."
it should say why instead of while, though.

I like it. I find too many websites these days have to be all about bells and whistles, while I prefer clean, simpler designs.

The buttons do feel wrong, but I think I know why.
They don't change colour/style/anything when you're ON that page or have been to that page, doing something as simple as changing the colour of a certain button if you're on that page can make a site far more usable.

Also, may I suggest a slightly more gentle shade of green, that shade hurt my head a little and some people can't look at strong greens like that.

Oh, and another thing. Would it be a good idea to move your servers IP address to the homepage? people are lazy and important info (such as your server IP) should be front and center.

That's just my (not so) little bit though.
