there is a new awesome trailer for modern warfare 3 I am really looking forward to this game even tho the story is terrible and i didnt even know who why and what is happening in the first 2 games, still lots of awesome action explosions and epic gun battles. definatley bying this game.

for those who played the first 2 games ...

Looks great
I don't understand why everyone always say how bad all of the COD titles are (Apart from black-ops as that actually was really bad IMO). I really enjoy playing them as the story is really good IMO, the gunplay has nothing to complain about, the AI's legendary and the graphics are top notch.

Cod games are great, but in terms of the storylines, they kindof suck. The original CoDs (WW2 shooters) didnt really have much of a story at all. They did a good job however on letting the player step into shoes of soldiers from that war.

Modern warfare games already have some improvement with the story, and charecters. And its too bad you think blackops is terrible. I thought blackops was the best CoD in terms of the storyline. They actually had good charecters who you got attached to and the story kept you on your toes.

Modern warfare storylines are all kindof vauge, and i found it hard to keep up with the charecters and telling apart who is who. The only charecters i actually remember from MW games are Ghost, General Shepard (or whatever his name was)and that guy who you old buddy. I cant even associate their faces and dont remember their names. In Blackops, (i played it like 3 months ago) i cant remember the names(i am bad with names) but i clearly remember peoples faces and their association with the story.

Dont get me wrong, even tho the storylines in MW games are not as good as i wish, the games are still AWESOME and i love them

I felt Modern Warfare had the best storyline by far. Modern Warfare 2 had the most powerful moment in the series.

Black Ops disappointed. I didn't care about the characters and every time someone died, I just walked on. There was no ultimate victory, while Modern Warfare 2 - oh man, that was victory.

It's only for the stories of Soap & Price that I'm continuing, so if those stories end, Call of Duty ends for me.

It was okay. I loved the chemical attack scene with the suit, that was tense, but besides that I didn't get this 'go, go, go'-feeling that Call of Duty is based on.

those were pretty powerful scenes alright. MW2 was almost banned in Russia for the airport scene and then earlier this year there was a terrorist attack in one of Moscows international airports. I dont blame videogames games tho

Blackops was probably not the game for me because of how it is in a real world conflict (I don't really play any of those games). But I found that the story was pretty repeditive and dissapointing, but it is all about opinion.

I'm definateley going to get this though

Meh there boring me now and this teaser trailer is only to counter Battlefield 3 teaser trailer that was fully realesed a bit back.



Ill admit it looks intresting but the escalation is far too much. We will going continet hopping for no apparent reason at points in the game and reapeat exactly what we did in the last city. Lets see how they pull it off at any rate.

both MW3 and BF3 looks interesting and appealing to me, however MW3 looks like MW2 with some improvements, but many of the graphical elements from MW2 seems to make an reappearence in MW3...

BF3, is a definite buy from me, MW3 is a maybe. mainly depending on wether any of my friends buy it or not..

I have it exactly the other way around - being a singleplayer gamer mostly, I'm definitely getting MW3 as I liked MW2, but BF2 didn't really grab me that much.

Meh, Black Ops was terrible. I found the story to be pretty dull and directionless, e.g., one mission I'm escaping a Soviet prison or die trying, next I'm having a cuppa with JFK. And no idea how I got there.

MW2 was full of "emotional" scenes. Ghost was a copypasta of Gaz and I couldn't care less, I was more annoyed than emotionally overpowered as I'd tried that mission 20 times on veteran and died, but 100 metres down a hill, I complete it, and die.

The whole American campaign was lost on me as it seemed so far fetched and overdramatic. In essece, I don't really like CoD's single player - bar World at War's, that, was awesome.

Then again, 99% just buy it for the Multiplayer.

Thats actually true.

I like Call of Duty.
4: Modern Warfare is one of the bet War Games out there. It was downright awesome the date it was released and its still great.

MW2 had a different approach...it had too much Rambo flair and less Warfare athmosphere. From what I can see: MW3 appears to be the next blockbuster.

The reason why there is a lot of hate talk about CoD is simply its popularity.

Because generally they appeal to people who have no particular skill at FPS games. You go on multiplayer and get rewarded for being bad.

Anyway, contrary to my seemingly negative posts about Call of Duty, I am looking forward to this. My faith in the stories has been restored by Black Ops, which had a great story.

I do see elements that you see in the other games, like soldiers throwing magazines to you, the hand covering the face during explosions, etc. so the cinematic's don't really appeal as much as they would have, say the first 3 games. I would generally say Call of Duty has only really accomplished one thing, and that is great cinematic gameplay.

As for multiplayer, I am setting my sights on Battlefield 3. A long time Battlefield fan, it really looks amazing, and appeals toward the multiplayer love I have toward all Battlefield games.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

best cod game i've played, while were at it, HAS to be World at War, since it really REALLY feels like you fighting this war, its hectic, stuf happens all the time ,there is explosions, people screaming, people dying and such

the only, really only bad thing about that singelplayer is the lack of, characters that you get to know or get feelings for.

I agree, I really liked World at War's campaign, aside from me being a World War II freak, I like how gritty it is, and the small things like deciding if you want to execute the German soldiers or not.

Black Ops' story was pretty good, but I think the series is falling from it's name, it's starting to get into things like conspiracies while the name to me suggests something a little more... noble? (can't think of better word)

I don't love the multiplayer in the newer Call of Duty games, but if I want to play a quick 10 minute game, Call of Duty is a good game for that. (I'd like to play World at War and Call of Duty 4 online again, but I can't get into a match that isn't modded...)

As for Modern Warfare 3, I'll rent it, not sure about buying it, we'll see.

I have enjoyed every Call of Duty except COD 3, but only because the gameplay and graphics were outstanding. I couldn't care any less for their storylines, and the same could be said for every game I've played since Half-Life 2. Videogame storylines can't even compete with made-for-TV movies for the most part.

That would be me, but unless you understand the modern warfare storyline it's no good.

MW2 achieved what homefront couldn't (even though it's older) in making a "what if" kind of scenario IMO (mainly because I loved fighting through th WH)

This is why the quality of games has gone down. When I buy a game, I want a decent story and good multiplayer. I don't just want multiplayer. Battlefield is the only real exception I've ever had, and that's because they've mastered multiplayer.

I remember older games, like ones on the first PlayStation, and had great stories and all you had for "multiplayer" was a friend, or if you were lucky to find a game, multitap. Nowadays it's all about online multiplayer, no stories, etc.

I agree that some of these games don't have the strongest story, but why else would anyone play more than one COD game when the SP is more or less the same apart from the plot?

Although on the topic of stories in games, I think there are several games (the Final Fantasy series, Deus Ex, Mass Effect) that have brilliant stories, but would probably not translate well over to films because they never seem to.

well i have a reason: i never replay a game which doesnt have choises and alternate endings (RPGs) and even if that happens i rarely replay the same game...

Crysis was fun to replay the first few maps though, because you could take on ANY kind of approach

I think you are supposed to have the idea that there is more to it than that. The guys you backed in COD4 weren't the ones that came out on top, and the major players were probably all itching for an excuse to get back. The terrorist attack, obstensibly perpetrated by a CIA agent, is what riles up the Russian people, and the country's leaders play on that outrage to execute plans that they've evidently had for some time (the stolen sattelite tech, anyone?).

Sigh. What I really want in a shooter was like Battlefront 2. It was epic in so many ways. The plot was great (it's Star Wars ffs) and the multi player was WOW. There were battles in space with ships, and the normal ground combat. There were Walkers and stuff. It was just so epic for me.

Well I just enjoy the gameplay in the SP campaigns, and truly feel that there's enough differences from game to game to keep playing them. I'm not sure what it is that keeps me coming back, but I love high production, quality gameplay, and awesome graphics. When I want a storyline I'll play through Half-Life 2 again, but even with games like Mass Effect I enjoy the gameplay far more than the weak storyline. I have never had a game pull me back time after time just to see what happens in the storyline.

I loved the CoD games racked up more hours overall then i want to broadcast and top prestiged on MW, MW2 and World at War. Yes i think that they are all very similar but thats the type of game i like to play so its alright.

Anyway i read this today

Shepherd plotted with Makarov, after Shepherd lost 30,000 men from the nuclear attack that Al Asad set off in Call of Duty 4, he went crazy and hatched a plan with Makarov to get the Russian Ultranationalists to invade the United States, over a seemingly vicious attack perpetuated by the United States. This would in turn cause a load of volunteers to come forth, and sign in with the military. This would allow Shepherd to have the powerful army he wanted. Why do you think he betray Ghost and Roach? Because they had the drive containing information relating to things he communicated between Makarov and himself.

You realize that games are meant for entertainment, right? Nobody wants to play an extremely realistic game, if they do they call those simulators. If you REALLY wanted Call of Duty to be accurate, you would:

1. Need to include 7 hours of cleaning the base up, and repairing vehicles.

2. Add 8 hours of patrolling streets, only to find the occasional IED.

3. Wait up to a year after getting shot once to return to duty, if you're lucky (or unlucky) enough to have to do so.

I'd agree that Mass Effect's storyline isn't too great.

"Nihlus killed by Saren to attain the Reapers' aid.
Shepard proves Saren was a rogue Spectre, then becomes a Spectre him/herself.
Racks up allies, defeats Saren and Sovereign.
Dies.
Rebuilt by an 'evil' organization of human elitists.
Collectors are here, building Reapers.
Stop Collectors.
Reapers on the verge of invasion."

Really, it's not a very good story, in my opinion.

It's quite cool to play throguh though. In reality you can boil any story to it's base components and claim it's simplistic.

Like the moment where you attack that Krogan facility, then find out that Sovereign is sentient. Then as you meet Saren you begin to realise he isn't the bad guy, he's just under Sovereign's control.

Indeed it is cool to play through. Though, the story is also very similar in structure to KotOR (Which imo are better games overall, though ME2 is my favorite game of all time). BioWare always borrows things from their past games. BioWare is my favorite developer, though.
Kaiden to Carth to Alistair
Ashley to Mission/Bastila to Morrigan
Wrex to Canderous to Sten
Spectre to Grey Warden to Jedi
Reapers to Sith to Darkspawn
Etc.

I'm not a fan of developers doing that.
