What is smart of me?

Well, you are on the list and judging by your previous work, you know how fpsc works. Is your profile E-Mail still active?

@Soviet: Good, you have an ATI card so I can have someone to test with one of those too.

@OmegaWolf: Thanks for the interest, but 2 win 7 testers are already enough

So, all I still need is a win vista 64 bit guy

Besides: any feedback on the latest images?

Thanks, I almost forgot I needed to watch the new Nostalgia Critic episode
Too bad I won't be at home (where my computer lives) for two weeks, and I'm using this damn laptop... >:C

Well, I quess there's nothing else I can do than just comment on the screenshots, but maby I'll do it later as I really can't manage it right now, seeing that I was frozen to day in my attempt to take over the world, ofcourse, then I heard a gunshot and realized I've been shot, gunshot that is. Well, atleast I saw those big lipped alligators for a moment, but then the horrible creature called man appeared, but they got eaten by a magic rhino... too much? OFCOURSE!

The screens look great, and I love that uzi, and as you know, you can't die when holding an uzi.

@OmegaWolf98: Thank you!

@TheZoq2: Thanks for the offer though

@MetalDevil123: Yeah, I really like his reviews.
And yeah! Thats why there are 2 Uzis in the game

@MichaelX: Good...expect it

@Bootlicker: I have some requests to finish and after that, I can certainly start working on some small modelpacks

About that caveman system: You are able to run the game with super low settings later, so you should be able to play it
The low settings add a little unique style to it somehow

@uzi idiot: Its not art until you've been putting sweat tears and blood to it That just means that its not art without effort

Wow... I could write a book about it.
Wait...I'm actually doing that...episode by episode:

Episode 1

Episode 2

Quote: "Is there a reccommended mod or something that can improve the games graphics?

Oh thats... No. There is no "make good graphics button" and there never will be. Its all art and hard work.

A mod can add some shader effects but thats it. Everything else is up to you. So basically: No, there is no mod I would recommend and I don't use any mod.

No, this was mainly to get a little bit more experienced with modeling. My entrance game (for the contest?) will be something else.
Something really short though

I proudly present you the list of guns that are 100% in the game
I know that I already presented some other models earlier on, but I'm afraid that not all of these will make it in the final game.

I do however think that I can add another list of the same length before I release the game

I also made some cool woodpart retextures for errants M.1014 and Desert Eagle. I show some close ups of these later.

You can also check out this thread to see some work in progress of the last guns for Shavra

Thanks for reading folks, please share some thoughts if you already checked by.

Simply delicious. The style of them reflects the games' theme. The guns look like part of a real world.

Plus, it's always great to see bands from the 1960s moving into weapon manufacturing

Great, no; fantastic work Wolf.

@Wolf: Your creativy, dedication and especially your determination (to try everthing to overcome/mask/workaround the engines limitations) are giving people like me constant hope and inspiration.

I am really impressed and I wish you the best for this project!

I second The Storyteller 01 and I love the weapons in the list. Very nice job on those, a question though: Is there going to be a melee weapon in case one happens to run out of ammo, or is there so much ammo that's not going to happen anyway?

@Ched80:
Quote: "The style of them reflects the games' theme. The guns look like part of a real world. "

Thank you! All of them have little storys attached to them (why and where they have been manufactured, who uses them and why etc.) I'm not entirely sure how much of these will make it in the game. Maybe in form of notes lying around. I'll see

Even though the game will play like a normal shooter, all of it has a lot of story attached to it which I hope will give it a unique feel.

Quote: "Plus, it's always great to see bands from the 1960s moving into weapon manufacturing "

Thats unintentional What name sounds like a band?

@The storyteller:
Quote: " Your creativy, dedication and especially your determination (to try everthing to overcome/mask/workaround the engines limitations) are giving people like me constant hope and inspiration."

Well, I was thinking of just abandoning the project after having trouble with the memorycap. But Luckily Hockeykid was helping me out of this and now this is rolling again!
Its an honor for me to inspire people. This is, after all, some sort of art.

Quote: "I am really impressed and I wish you the best for this project!"

Thank you!

@OmegaWolf98: Thanks

@da2020: To be fair, I am a little bit of a gunnut, so it was a lot of fun doing these

@MetalDevil123: Thank you!
Quote: "a question though: Is there going to be a melee weapon in case one happens to run out of ammo, or is there so much ammo that's not going to happen anyway? "

Ah yes! Questions, I like questions

Well, better yet: you are able to use the guns itself as a melee weapon

"steppenwolf" were a famous1960s band from the US. They did "born to be wild" the lazy soundtrack to any day-time TV featuring motorbikes

So this is almost a Project Apex flagship title now.

From a game-play point of view: How do you plan and balance the ebb and flow of tension within your levels? This is something I find really hard to judge and plan for. Just curious how you go about it.

For the guns? Thanks

Quote: "They did "born to be wild" the lazy soundtrack to any day-time TV featuring motorbikes "

So they where responsible for this piece of mediocrity.

Well, Steppenwolf is actually a famous novel by Hermann Hesse. Its german for "steppe-wolf". You know...desert-eagle, steppe-wolf...you should catch my train of thoughts by know

Quote: "From a game-play point of view: How do you plan and balance the ebb and flow of tension within your levels? This is something I find really hard to judge and plan for. Just curious how you go about it."

The first level will introduce the controls and it will have some puzzles. You also have to take notes from a book you find and fire up an old generator. That way I'm getting rid of annoying "fat-battlefield-xbox" kids that don't know the different of a one-man free game project and call of duty. After that you'll get some combat action.

You'll battle various types of squads including "indoctrinates" (brainwashed puppetsoldiers) with SMG, Regular Troops with regular equipment, elite troops with better equipment, heavy troops with ... rocketlaunchers and MG's and last but not least, battledroids.

In between you get small riddles to solve and dialogues that keep the story going.

So basically it plays like a regular shooter. The only difference is that it is not having continuous difficulty. You might experience an rather easy level towards the end and a pretty tough one in the middle of the game

No, I don't. To be honest, I am THIS close before abandoning this bugfest as a total.

How do I explain this....ahm...hold on... EVERYTHING SUCKS.

The combat is terribly clumsy, the Ally system is awful and feels terribly forced, some maps look out of place and are visually incoherent in comparaison with the rest. It has lag on my system (which means that it lags a whole lot more on other, weaker computers) and I can't say that the gameplay is fun.
I'm really thinking about burrying this on my harddrive and doing something else.
Don't get me wrong, the puzzle elements work, but the shooter/ tectical elements just...they blow.
Including some of my older gun models that just look awful ingame. And I just don't have the time or the nerves to start them over again.

I'm thinking about taking the ingredients of Shavra and forging them into something else.

You guys are right! I'll blow off the official release and put together a tiny version for the community? Hows that?

After having another 2 cups of coffee over the mess shavra is right now, I decided to discontinue the project and I'll even write a tutorial on what I did wrong

The looks are fine...just the game doesnt work
I'm currently working on something new, I just started it. Its a scifi Project I wanted to start after Relict and Children of Dagon (my larger projects) but I just do it now so I can hand in something for the "Defy the odds compo".
Like I mentioned before, these puzzle scripts are working fine and it would be a shame to slam them in the trash like these awful shooter sequences.

Nooooo!

This is quite sad, it was looking so awesome, and them BAM! FPSC Bugfest time!

Like others have said, just give us the buggy version. I just want to play the game.

But I guess, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Looking forward for more.

I've been working until now (03:13 in my timezone) to get a new concept together using most of the media I made for Shavra.

I don't know if you still care enough for my stuff for me to open another work in progress thread, but lets just say there is absolutely going to be another game by me coming out this year.

I'm going in adventure territory with non-human enemies.
Yeah...and its going to be scary...again.

Well,I guess I nuked the fridge enough in this thread.

Sorry again folks.
