There are some nice backgrounds here! Just shows you that you don't need photoshop to do these things!
I had a go also. I've not done any graphic work in a while, it made a nice change!

@ThoughtWire Software That isnt exactly abstract, but it is still cool! For some reason gray-scale pictures of trees in grass really depress me...

If you installed the DirectX SDK, you should be able to right click an an image and select Convert to file format..., and use that to convert to .dds format.
