Any of you ever play DK1? It is a true work of art. The graphics are a bit meh by today's standards but the game play is still top notch

If you can you should look up DK2. Graphically and game play wise it is still one of the best out there.

True very true but many would say one has better game play. I guess it is down to which ever you played first. The first is definitely dated graphically though

I literally just bought 2 about an hour ago. Looking for something different for the LAN. £3.69 on Amazon. Bargain. I've played 1 before, so will be interesting to see how they compare.

I've tried every fix, workaround or idea that I could find on the internet to get DK2 to run without error on my Windows 7 machine and have long since given up.

At least when I by from GoG I know it will run on Windows 7.

I also thought DK was better than the sequel.

DK2 retail works fine for me on XP. Did you try the XP compatible mode or that program 7 comes with? I don't use DOSBOX with DK2 but DK1 comes with DOSBOX from GOG. Have you tried it with DOSBOX?

Yeh the game play for 1 is better me thinks but DK2's graphics stand the test of time. It would be great if we could merge the good from both of them

What version of windows are you running? If it is XP your grand but anything else and you could be fishing for solutions unfortunately. It was always DK1 I had a problem running even on windows 98 se Stoopid windows

Come to think of it anyone see this yet?

Yes I've tried everything to get it working under Windows 7, but it's just not happening. It's not a big deal I played it when it first came out and was feeling a bit nostalgic after playing Dungeons recently so I hunted out my disc and tried to give it a go.

There reaches a point with me, however, when the effort required to get a game running on the PC just isn't worth it anymore. It's for this reason that I like to buy old games I want to play from GoG because all the working out has already been done for me.

I knew it wasn't a Dungeon Keeper type game when I got it, so I didn't have that expectation of it. It's an average game at best but I have gotten some enjoyment out of it. I think it still needs work, some of the game play mechanics seem a bit off, and the interface could use some work, imo.

Such is the joy of PC gaming. Works fine for some, doesn't work at all for others.

I've got DK2, I love all the old Bullfrog games, especially the Populous Series. Molyneux's a genius IMO

Dual boot Win7 and XP, so it'll be fine. In fact, I never use Win 7 on my main compo because I have so much software that doesn't work on it. All me game development, game playing and music stuff happens on the XP boot!
