Hey guys, there's a competition on facebook to win an drift camera. Its just a camera that can be used for sports ad stuff.
Since my Gopro broke, I've been wishing for a replacement so I have entered myself to try win it.
All you need to do to help out is go to the facebook page below and leave a comment, you can say anything, just have to leave a comment.

https://apps.facebook.com/contestshq/contests/126388/voteable_entries/23284859?ogn=facebook&order=recency

It is a picture of my fin cut on my leg from a few years back.
So help me out and if I end up winning, you will see many photos on here from my surf sessions and what not.
Cheers!

Hey look at that!

Don't waste your time on this, save up and buy one yourself. These "competitions" are always a waste of time.

there are thousands of competitions out there -> join as many as possible and you will win eventually, not something great maybe, but something, and its free too.

Your missing the part of handing out personal information to tones of companies and so called companies. I signed up for a single compettion a while ago, im still get 100+ junk mail a day from the one.

The only way they can give out 'free' stuff is buy selling your details on. There has to be profit in there for them.

I dont think dating elderly women, new conservatory windows, bulk buy seafood, dept collection, new credit card deals, loans.

Oh and the compo was for new high grade mouse keyboard + extras.

What Quik is saying is: Have a different email address for entering compos. It's the first rule for avid compo entrants.

I hit big a while back, I won a paper clip holder.

Here's why it's easier to just get a job and buy the things you want:

1. Most of these companies work off of referrals. You'll spend hours that you could be working, spamming forums with referral links.

2. Most of the stuff is either broken or refurbished.

3. Many of it can be taxed as won assets by your local government, meaning you really don't benefit from it as you're still paying something.

4. Your information is resold over and over to various companies, contrary to what they say that they don't "sell your information."

5. You have to click loads of ads, fill out surveys, sign up for "free trials" that require a credit card, etc.

If you can sit on your ass on the internet all day, you can get a job.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

It's on Facebook, so they can't really steal your email address unless you give it to them. This competition is about who can get the most comments on a photo. Comments from others. So you won't get any junk mail unless you go to the company's page, and email them asking for a weekly newsletter.
Otherwise I would not have posted this, as it only takes 10 seconds max, to write a comment and post it.
Then you just decline the contest app, and your free to go.
Everyone is on facebook throughout the day, I thought asking some of you guys to help out would work.

Hey look at that!

But surely you have to provide some legitimate details in order to win/claim the winnings? (i.e. shipping address, telephone number etc.)

These companies generally sell details onto spammers and telemarketers. Your idea is bulletproof... until you actually win something and you have to cough up personal details (unless you happen to own a PO box etc.)

This is what greatly disturbs me about the current crop of people using the internet and media, and especially Facebook

"Just give away all my personal contact details, what's the worst they can do?"

Whilst I can't name exactly what they could do, do you not see how incredibly stupid that sounds? You don't know what they could do with the details (yet) so it's OK to enter your details into hundreds of sites and competitions?

Friends I know do the same spiel regarding Facebook ("Oh right yeah, they're gonna take over the world. Get real, what's the worst they could do with all my personal information?"). It makes my blood boil. And the irritating thing is these people won't realise they're wrong until they get adversely affected by it. Because remember: Each time you give away your details, that's an additional party you have to assume have adequate security and policies to hold it. What if they get hacked and leak your personal details? What if they're not reputable at all and intentionally leak your details? You don't need a credit card number to begin identity fraud: An address, a date of birth and a few other menial details are sufficient

I myself never said i was competitioning at facebook.

and giving away my fake mail and where I live, to a company, usually a well renown company, do you really think they will hire an asassin to come butcher me?
I only need; my name, my number (no necessary), my faked mail, my adress
thats all, other than junk mail, which can be requested to stop, in my mailbox and my mail there is nothing that will happen.

and for the record, I am a man.
