I live in Missouri. In the middle of the woods, and I've seen tons of bugs, but never one like this. It is massive, probably a good 5 inches wide, and 3 inches tall (wing span I mean...)

My name is Brian.

Common? Not here. I've lived out in these woods for 7 years now and this is the first time I've ever seen it! I've seen Secadas (hope I spelled that right) more often than this.

EDIT:

Thanks BatVink, that must be what it is, exactly the same looking and the description is perfect (I was half an inch off on his width).

My name is Brian.

Interestingly I've seen insects like that in England but with smaller antennas and less colourful wings. I thought the thing was a bat!

Its body looks really fluffy. Almost like a flying bunny!

They are weirdly cute and ugly at the same time.

I love moths. Nothing as romantic as sitting in the garden on a summer night, while the moths are around you.

Butterflys are overrated... ever compared both? Moths, cute fury body, and butterflys? Bugfaces from hell!!

I just absolutely love how you slipped in the word "...help" onto the end of the title. That's hilarious.

My mum works in the butterfly house at Chester Zoo in the UK. I bet she'd love to find something like that on her window...
