I thought it was the MLP's in disguise.

Really, is this what we are reduced to now? Is this why we spend so much time on deployments, away from our families? To see garbage like this? What a joke.

No, this is what those you will not defend themselves, their families and their country are reduced to.

Nobody, especially me, is saying that everyone is like this. It'd be idiotic to say that these things do not happen. Again, it seems like most people here live in a candy-coated world where every member of the military acts like a true hero, and whatnot.

So let me get this straight, the minute we stop praising the military for one minute to actually think that some things like this MIGHT just happen, we're being disrespectful and cowardly? I don't think so. While I hold the military up to respect, I do not need to throw on a military uniform and run around with a gun to protect my family and do the right thing. I'm going to set the record straight now, those who go into the military and aren't looking for praise, and only look to do the right thing, those who do are the real heroes. Those who come back, thinking that anyone not in the military is a coward and anti-patriotic, that's just an arrogant thing to say. You have to remember those at home who must endure the loss of people, and the parents of those children born into military families. Husbands and wives are gone for years at a time, while the other spouse is left to protect and provide for the family. They don't wear uniforms and yet they have to provide and protect. How does that make us so different?

Not once did I ever say I wouldn't defend what I believe in.

What I support: Finding and bringing down those who hurt and manipulate others.

What I do NOT support: People in Washington who send others overseas to fight an oil war.

I've explained this before. I understand that many people in the military do it for the right reasons, but there are ones who do not do it for the right reasons. Those are the ones looking for praise, and looking for a quick escape from their families, and to get rich quick, etc.

It's sorta like being a firefighter. Firefighter's don't put on a military uniform, yet they are heroic. Anyone who runs into a burning building, much like patrolling through a foreign land, has to have a lot of courage and bravery.

Now comes the real thing: If our country was being invaded, would I enlist and take up arms against it?

Most certainly. Anyone that has the potential to hurt my family, I'm going to take down. The minute someone would even lay a hand on my family, I'd be going after them. Family is everything.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Sorry, I don\'t believe you. Our country was invaded on September 11th, 2001 and you still haven\'t enlisted. You\'re all talk. I hope for your families sake that someone else is around if they ever are in danger. Obviously you can\'t lead, or follow, so just stay out of the way when the crap hits the fan.

I hope that makes you as angry as you\'ve made me and others with your silly crap.

Truly,
Brian.

Let it go, Brian. The thread has now degraded. It is not worth feeding the trolls any further. We know what is what. You can hit them with a rolled up newspaper, and still the point will be missed.

Crispex,
As for that article you posted a link to, those were actions of rouge soldiers. Not orders given from higher.

As for someone being a coward for not joining the military.. I don't think that is necessarily true. It just takes a "different" kind of person to be a soldier and be good at it.

Huh?!? I must have missed the briefing where they handed out the millions.. crap.

Let's not turn this into a flame war guys.

Yeah, I missed that too... no other country was involved AT ALL in this incident and I highly doubt that the taliban REALLY did it.

The US Invasion was a sad act under the bush regime that should NOT have happened. But thats the american army that started invading a country for ... yeah, oil. How is that related to the british army?

However, I believe that Obama is doing a good job on getting those people out of there..slowly. Its about time.

It makes sense, don't worry

I'd never join the army myself... unlike many here, I have no problem with being a coward. I'd rather be a coward than dead However, big respect to anyone who joins any army, regardless of nationality or ideals, that takes bravery.

Xplosys is right! Lets get back to the topic!

Here is what I did back in the day I was preparign for joining the army:

Print the test tasks. They do surely have them on the internet. Try them out for yourself and perfect them.

Do they ask you to know foreign language? (you have to master 3 for luxemburgian army) If so, just get out your old school books and read through them again, same for math.

Start getting up early in the morning. Make sure to not spend ages to get out of bed as you have to be fast in the army.

Jogging, exercising...do it

Watch how you react when family members ask something of you... it is important not to come off annoyed when your drill officer asks something of you.

The teacher / drillseargent / dude that makes a soldier out of you...whatever you want to call him WILL annoy you... dont take it personal, it his job to make a soldier out of you and not all of them are good at it. It is important not to spoil out some smartass phrases or give him a threatening look.

Make friends with other soldiers... its easyer to go through it "together".

Oh boy...I don't take much more crappy apprenticeship offers... I'm THIS close to join the army myself. Who wants to sell clothes in the mall anyway?

Good luck in your military entrance. This thread has become one big flame magnet. Trolling a thread is not the way to make your point; either is the usual bashing of the usual Country.
