About The Project

In July we are filming a Zombie horror short film. This film will begin after the apocalypse has happened and we have locked down some major locations such as the Mall and our High School. We have put together our cast and crew but since this is a low budget student film we are in the need of equipment and props.

What We Ask From You

This is where you come in, we are asking if you could donate as little or as much as you can. Even if you can't donate you can still help out by sharing this page to everywhere you know. By doing this you will help our goal to produce this film happen. So you are probably wondering whats in it for you? We are offering rewards from being listed in the credits, receiving a Double feature dvd, or being listed as an executive producer.

First, I enjoyed the the video. But.....

You knew there would be a but (not a butt, unless it works in the story, then it would be fine. A fine butt... LOL)

Perhaps you could give more information about your plans/ideas for the film, a storyline, a script... anything to prove that you have more than a camera and a pretty face.

Brian.

Sure

where started this kick starter to raise money for equipment and props. We really want to go all on on this film and with the help of the supporters we can. To start off we will need some great equipment such as 2 canon 7d's and mic's. Then we need some realistic props.

More info about the film is on the kick starter page here
We are still in the scriptwriting phase and when that is complete i will fill you in with more information about the film

This is kind of close to my heart, because I've always wanted to make an indie zombie movie. In fact, I bought a Canon XL1s a while back plus a tripod, and I have some good gear for film projects, but I've always been hampered by the lack of enthusiasm from my friends (WASTES OF SPACE!!). So if my neck was in your woods, I would be interested in helping you out, but obviously I am a squillion miles away in the UK, so cannot.

But onto the money thing. I think you may be going about this the wrong way. What you really need is good actors and a good writer. There are so many crappy indi films out there. People knock them together all the time. You can get posh equipment to make it look better, do some good after effects and maybe get some good audio in there, but it'll still completely suck unless you've found talented people to work on it.

Imo, the way to do it is find the people, write the script and film it on a low budget with a rubbish camera. If the actors and script are strong, it'll be a good movie, even with rubbish equipment. At that point, you can approach people with a good product that needs polishing, and then people will be much more willing to help you out financially.

If you don't prove yourself first, people will assume you fall into the 99% of indi movie makers who make crap, and won't be willing to part with any of their hard earned casheesh.

Hope that helps.

@ Fallout

Awesome advice dude. you're right, iam too worried about the cinematic and professional look but not the content. But unfortunately this is not my movie and my friends have already picked the actors and the script is being written, Thanks.

Yeah, when I'd finished babbling my piece, I realised this was a school project, and therefore you're really limited on who you use. If it was a case of you were doing this by yourself, you could take your time recruiting people, trying to find people in your area with some talent, but I guess that's not possible here.

Good luck anyway mate. It doesn't matter how it turns out really. It'll be good experience and hopefully fun to make too. Whatever you learn you can put into your next project.
