And that\'s not even icing on the cake ! Wait till it drops in price like the poop in a New York sewer ! Sure, I\'ll buy it eventually to finalize my over all opinion but all in all. Anybody is an idiot for pre-ordering in the first place !

Yeah...it doesn't suck =/ That's your and those bloggers opinions. I have played far worse games than DNF. Sure, it might not have lived up to your standards, but that's why most titles get dubbed as sucky.

I pre-ordered the game on Steam a month prior to its release. It released June 14 at midnight. I got home from work and immediately started playing it and have now invested 7 hours into it.

Here are things that will make it suck. If you:
-expected high-end graphics
-expected a game just like the older Duke Nukems
-compare it to your favorite game(s)

That's about it. If you expect too much, no game or movie will ever live up to it. Also, a common misconception is that they spent the full 14 years making it. They didn't. So what if you think I'm an idiot for pre-ordering it. You'll never know how a game is until you play it, because you can't trust other people's opinions. If you do, you're living a very sheltered life, you poor poor sad thing.

Its Duke Nukem, you cant expect anything other that craziness. The controls are a bit dodgy.

On another note, it was made in the outdated Unreal Engine 2.5

I think it's pretty good. I particularly enjoy all the memes they've thrown in.

The President has spoken. The game in question does not suck.

I'm having a blast with it, and I've laughed out loud at several parts. It's all self-referential and full of details that are hilarious. Sure, if offends a lot of groups, but I think it's great (so far). Also, I think the graphics are pretty good. When Duke looks in the mirror he looks outdated, but a lot of times I stopped and admired the graphics.

.....That; and the President said it doesn't suck. Saying DNF sucks is now a bannable offense.

I draw a penis on every autograph I get. It puts the dialog afterwords in a different context.

LOL! Great one!

I've seen videos of DNF, and I think it looks great. But I see how it may not appeal to other people (including my mother)

Lol, yes, it may not appeal to your mother...or women in general >_<

It's a very funny game, and sometimes he says something that, like Jeku said, you find yourself laughing out loud and next thing you know you're restarting from the checkpoint.

It's gotten pretty tough on parts of it. I'm currently about half way through the Duke Burger part of the game, I don't know, in terms of the entire game, how far I am though.

I have too many fond memories of wasting whole lunch hours playing co-op and vs Duke3D. I mean, I can barely remember a few Doom levels, but pretty much all the original Duke3D levels I know inside and out - where to lay traps, where to hide etc etc. I have come to terms with the fact that the new Duke won't be like that, it'll be a modern day FPS unfortunately, to sit beside all the other modern day FPS games. The best thing about Duke IMO, at the time at least, was that it kinda stuck the finger up to ID and Doom, but in a very friendly way. Doom was all atmospheric and scary, wheras Duke was often rediculous with the shrinking, squishing, turds, one-liners..... I kinda miss that, what with the complete market saturation we see with FPS games. I will buy Skyrim, Rage, and BF3 because I think those games are keeping it real - I'm not convinced about the new Duke one bit.

I'll get it pre-owned though, I think it will get cheap really quick, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it more than I'll admit .

I'm just saying, I can't wait for the Zero Punctuation review...as he already sarcastically reviewed it a year ago.

Van B, it does have modern style FPS, but I think it feels as close to Duke as it can with what people are expecting. People our age remember much greater video games than the ones that are out today. With all of that though, the new Duke is actually pretty good. If you, unlike the OP, get rid of everyone elses opinions, then I think you'll enjoy the game a lot more.

It has all of the humor of the original Dukes. Some things that it doesn't have that the originals have, but have already been discussed on the other thread. The ability to kick is gone, and you can only carry around 2 weapons at a time. Even with that, I think it made it much more challenging than being able to rack up the max ammo on the guns before using them in a boss fight to make it a piece of cake. The ability to kick...I do miss that since it was different. In Half Life you got a crowbar, and in almost every other FPS game you hit people with the butt of the gun. But Duke would lift his leg up and stomp the aliens' chests in! It was definitely way cooler than hitting someone with the back of my shotgun >_>

Like I said in my first post, as long as you don't mind the graphics (compared to modern games) and don't try to compare it to the other Duke Nukem games, I think you'll have a bit of fun with this.

I think the biggest problem is that Duke doesn't need to throw insults to get back ego, instead it just regenerates, and the lack of boot action. WHERE IS THE BOOT?

I would have been VERY impressed if it stuck to a very polished version of old school 90s fps design, that would have blown me away.

I don't see myself getting the game, not much of an fps gamer, particularly with modern fps games. Halo doesn't do much for me, COD... COD makes me feel like a I have a gimp. I just feel bad playing it with my friends, because I hurt those gamer scores or whatever than put so much effort into. And often cause the team to lose by how often I die. Nothing about it is fun for me.

I have a friend who's a Duke fanatic, I'll see what he thinks. Read plenty of reviews, seems like you'd be a sucker to get it in the 360.

Again, opinions are opinions. You won't know if you like it until you buy it and try it.

Yes, the ego regenerates automatically, but you lose it fast enough to where it still provides a challenge. Duke Nukem games, and this one is no exception, are some of the hardest games I've played (with the exception of playing BioShock through the hardest difficulty, without dying...that sucked!). I think it's still just as humerous as the originals. True, the boot is gone, which I think it made it even more unique than it already was. And Idk about it being modern...My last post may have been wrong. It doesn't feel "modern" to me. And same with me, I hate CoD, but I hate it for a different reason than you.

All in all, it ends at the same point every day: To each his own.

There's already a Duke Nukem thread here: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=185741&b=2.
