i read it isnt scary at all, which is a real downer: i played the second one, about 20 minutes then i gave up.
The first one was THE FPSS (first person scary shooter! x)) to go, it was brilliant and just REALLY scary. Now i just feel like its all about milking it.
Ending it with the first game would have been awesome too imo: open ending ftw. Especially in the horror franche.
I played it through, like any horror title, with a friend. And man, i had as much fun with FEAR as with Amnesia, in other words a blast.

and for the record, I am a man.

They made a FEAR 3???

Either I'm seriously out of the loop, or it just wasn't worth mentioning anywhere on the web that I normally dwell.

In all honesty, I enjoyed both 1 and 2. Though, I finished part 2 much faster than part 1... probably because I wasn't huddled up against a wall, crouching, creeping along like a scared little sissy. I play horror games by myself, in the dark, with surround sound, and no body else home.... thus, if I'm shaken by something in the real world, there is probable cause for alarm.

Even so, I think I'll have to pass on FEAR 3 regardless of what the reviews say. I don't think my heart can take much more of that genre.

Honestly, it's a total pain to play. After spending 45 minutes running around looking for the next area, I just gave up. There wasn't a single scary moment unless you count a couple encounters with the girl, which really weren't scary. Played it on PC, and there was something about the aiming. Felt really choppy, it was just difficult to shoot anything. Died around a dozen times on the easiest difficulty, and I'm definitely no slouch when it comes to FPS's. You could definitely tell it was almost a direct port from the Xbox 360, because even in the options menu, they have controllers enabled on default. When you try to remap keys, it automatically comes up as a Xbox controller.

It might be better on the Xbox 360, but I couldn't expect it to be that much better. I've never played any of the other FEARs, so I don't know if they're any better.

Sounds like a shoddy port to me. I wouldn't play an FPS on a console (save for when I'm roped into playing Halo by my friends). Mouse and keyboard all the way!

The point is that it's a crappy port, not a controller issue.

I'm loving this game so far too, combat and shooting is fun and satisfying in the FEAR series. PC version runs and plays great for me here. I think it looks great too, I've always liked the aesthetic of the FEAR games.
