I yesterday, 24/06/2011, downloaded a TextureConverter from a forum thread. I cannot remember which. I unzipped today and trying to open a folder it contained named _MACOSX my virus checker found it contained a virus. The named file was created in Feb this year. The other folder named TextureConverter created May 2010 was clean.

_MACOSX Isn't usually a virus.
It usually means that the programs in the file have been converted for Mac. It's possible that the codes that were made were quite similiar to a virus, but not harmful.
Screenshots or links please?

Maybe AVG was wrong?
McAfee, Norton, Microsoft Security, Bull Guard, Avast, and more can be wrong also.

Could be a false positive. Avg tends to throw them out everynow and then depending on peoples coding styles.

Ask the creator and check the thread for similar problems. If nobody is having them, then its nothing to worry about.

Norton Internet Security throws up virus errors for apps that I have written using Dark Basic Pro, which I know to be safe.

Usually they are false positives, but as people have said, if you are unsure, its worth asking the creator.

I couldn't open that screenshot because it contained a virus.

I believe you mean "analyzed."

There are two kinds of computer users. Those that use Macs and those that wish they did.

It was just a humorous typo, one like we all make from time to time. No offence meant on my part and I'm sure no offence meant from slow programmer either...
