I need a bit of help on Half-Life 2: Episode 1, the place at the elevator underground where scores of zombies attack, no matter what I do i can get past that bit! Does anyone know of a way to get infinite health so I can get past!

Or if anyone has a save file just past that section I would be most grateful.

1, Start the game with the -dev -console command line parameter in the game's shortcut.
2, Press ~ during game play to display the console window.
3, Enter sv_cheats 1 at the console to enable cheat modes.
4, In the console enter the following code.

god

Alternatively, you can add -dev -console by editing the game's launch properties in Steam, then proceed with steps 2 - 4

Thanks bruce3371. Exactly how do you edit the game's launch properties in Steam?

right click the game (edit: in steam obv, not a shortcut ) -> properties -> and under geneeral there should be a button "set launch options"

and for the record, I am a man.

...Or you could lower the difficulty.

My advice to do it without cheats is to know where flares are and such, in order to keep light constantly. Also, use your shotgun, and then when you're out of ammo, switch to the gravity gun to throw the barrels at the zombies.

Cheesehead for life.

I shouldn't really encourage cheating, but here's a link to a nice little cheat tracker utility.
It's updated at the beginning of every month, and a whole new version is released every year.
It's got just about every cheat and walkthrough you could possibly need!

Here's the link;

That elevator section was patched sometime after release because initially it was even harder and a big sticking point for many players. Easily my most hated part of the game.

Pffft. Passed it second time. Gravity gun spam and constant movement. Also it pays to spend a moment prepping flares and barrels, use them together for combos!

I passed it first time, I just hate that part because it's rubbish. The worst part of all the Half Life games, imo.

Although I never played it unpatched as I bought it about a year after release, so I don't know how difficult it originally was.

Barrel surrounded by flares = awwwwesome.

Set up a few in the killzone, and make...deh majikz.

I loved that part of the game, it was a good last zombie fight before hitting the streets to fight more Combine. And it actually required some skill to do (one of the reasons I have more faith in VALVe to make genuinely challenging games over other AAA game developers).

Although I do recommend you play it without cheats, it is a far more rewarding experience.
