Hi guys !

Yesterday I was wondering what kind of people we got here. So today i made a little poll.

You can base your answer on the way you talk, your music style and what clothes you wear.

------------

You can choose from:

Hip - Hop guy

Emo guy

Geek guy

Metal/Rock guy

Just normal

Other

Country guy

Feminine guy

Hardman/Gangster

Jazzman

------------
Link to poll: http://geekculturepoll.weebly.com/
------------

I myself am an Emo/Metal guy. I based my answer on my music style: Metal, DeathMetal, Metalcore and Deathcore. And what kind of clothes I wear: alot of black, long hair that goes over eyes and I always wear my fingerless black gloves. (if you don't know what fingerless gloves are then click on this link http://www.bikershopmenen.com/attachments/Image/Handschoenen/PAAAIAGCGGPACHEO.jpg

Anyway. please visit my poll.

Thanks

I want a 'feminine guy' option.

You realise that you can't actually label people in this way, and all that is going to happen is people are going to ask for more and more characteristics until the possible options are just too many to take any reliable data from, right?

i am not sure i apply to any of those options, because i am a bit of everything. i am pretty good at drawing and art, but i dont like it very much, i am kinda good with computers and generally with my hands fixing stuff, but i dont fit into the geek stereotype, because i am pretty stupid in most areas. I like listening to metal and rock, but i dont dress or act like a metalhead, and recentley my music tastes expanded beyond metal. and i used to be sortof emo in 9th grade and i like some rap and hiphop, i even attempted to make some songs tooin the past

Well... I don't see an option for being perfect, so I think I would have to be a "Metal/Rock guy". Very rarely wear anything other than band shirts and listened to the latest In Flames album over 10 times the day it was released Which is a great album if you haven't listened to it yet, Deliver Us and A New Dawn being my favorite songs.

Or we can all just not be retarded and simply put what type of person we are... we don't HAVE to choose from a list that was made.

The list should just be entirely removed, or kept as a guideline, not necessarily something that has to be chosen from.

INTJ based on the flawed Myers-Briggs system.

Type A based on the discredited Jacob Goldsmith theory.

None of the above on the Norion system of classification.

I'm fairly modest though, so if we must catalogue me I will settle for God walking among mere mortals.

I love you Ralph.

Well, it's hard to categorize people, but people have different ways of identifying themselves, but I think everyone is independent, so it's hard to make any assumptions about someone, for example, the guys who put feminine might not be wimps...me for a start XD.

Metal-head -> Because I listen to metal, I go to metal festivals, I go to watch metal gigs, I have loads of band t-shirts and love the colour black. Kinda cliched I know, but I actually like it, plus Trinny and Susanna say black is rather slimming. My underwear is white, but I suppose that's too much information.

Geek -> It will be hard for anybody here to not be one, I mean, programming IS a geek thing, no matter how cool or suave you are, you're still a geek. Plus geeks aren't necessarily uncool.

Feminine -> I shop at Lush, I spend hours washing my hair, I wear perfume, I am not afraid of girly things and often put my masculinity in harm's way. However, I'll still kick your face in if we do a sparring match, but hey, I'll smell nice doing it!

Blues Guy -> Because I don't have a single set-in-stone taste in music.

Folk Guy -> Same as above, plus I'm a Folk Storyteller.

Other -> Because as I say, you can't categorize so easily, so much makes up a person, so the rest has to go into 'other' and it's too long to list. Perhaps add...'eccentric', I enjoy odd things.

The only things that make you emo are the fact you listen to music with the suffix '-core' and your hairstyle, but you also listen to metal and I suspect you're probably a happy chap, so you might file better as a metal head...because despite the dark music, we're actually quite a joyful bunch! Who also like tea and biscuits! That is, if you really want to categorise yourself...the fact you pick from two sides suggests that you can't fit the bill to an exact 'T' for either category, meaning you're a free thinking human being. Congratulations!

Depends on how much you evolved in your life...if you are still that far behind in mental evolution that you instantly label the people you see, you might have some serious growing up to do.

In all honesty, I try to avoid judging people as much as I can, it's hard to know what they're really like - even people who you might deem idiots might not be, rather, they're just different. Only time I worry about another's appearance is if it looks like they're going to mug me if I walk in their direction. A lot of dodgy folk in the street tend to wear the Chav attire but I've actually met some quite groovy chavs out there, so go figure.

So normally, I try to be social with other people, regardless of their background - I used to get along with as many people as I possibly could when I was at university (because at the moment I'm actually a hermit ), geeks, gangsta folk, laddish guys (people who are typically called Dave, in fact, one renamed himself Dave), indies, emos, metal-heads, eco-warriors, the campest of the camp, stoners, foreigners, people obsessed with cars, goths, trainspotters (though I only liked one of them), Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Satanists, atheists, Germans, pole dancers, feminists, cheerleaders, the anime crowd, comic book nerds, people who support Conservative, Labour, UKIP, Lib Dem, the sporty folk, the circus freaks, guys who love their acoustic guitar, ex-convicts (we had one in our class) and I'd say 90% of them had bad haircuts.

It sounds like I'm mocking you, but I'm not, I know it's natural to categorize people and avoid them, but that doesn't mean you have to do it. You can find great friends once you let all prejudices aside. You'd never expect me and my mate Dave to hang out, yet there's a lot of bromance going on there.

Being normal is extremely boring! It is the point at which all people correlate, where there is no individuality whatsoever. That is why everything mainstream is terrible.

That's what I mean, the only way you can define "normal" in human behaviour is by majority, or only looking at the things EVERYONE does. Both of which bring up the most dull things known to man, such as watching the X-Factor

Hahaha. It may be flawed like RalphY says but the Myers-Briggs test is the best one we have to determine personality types.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Briggs_Type_Indicator

I'm just like RalphY except I'm extroverted (ENTJ).

ENTJ Characteristics:

ENTJs have a natural tendency to marshal and direct. This may be expressed with the charm and finesse of a world leader or with the insensitivity of a cult leader. The ENTJ requires little encouragement to make a plan. One ENTJ put it this way... "I make these little plans that really don't have any importance to anyone else, and then feel compelled to carry them out." While "compelled" may not describe ENTJs as a group, nevertheless the bent to plan creatively and to make those plans reality is a common theme for NJ types.

ENTJs focus on the most efficient and organized means of performing a task. This quality, along with their goal orientation, often makes ENTJs superior leaders, both realistic and visionary in implementing a long-term plan. ENTJs tend to be fiercely independent in their decision making, having a strong will that insulates them against external influence. Generally highly competent, ENTJs analyze and structure the world around them in a logical and rational way. Due to this straightforward way of thinking, ENTJs tend to have the greatest difficulty of all the types in applying subjective considerations and emotional values into the decision-making process.

ENTJs often excel in business and other areas that require systems analysis, original thinking, and an economically savvy mind. They are dynamic and pragmatic problem solvers. They tend to have a high degree of confidence in their own abilities, making them assertive and outspoken. In their dealings with others, they are generally outgoing, charismatic, fair-minded, and unaffected by conflict or criticism. However, these qualities can make ENTJs appear arrogant, insensitive, and confrontational. They can overwhelm others with their energy, intelligence, and desire to order the world according to their own vision. As a result, they may seem intimidating, hasty, and controlling.

ENTJs tend to cultivate their personal power. They often end up taking charge of a situation that seems (to their mind, at least) to be out of control, or that can otherwise be improved upon and strengthened. They strive to learn new things, which helps them become resourceful problem-solvers. However, since ENTJs rely on provable facts, they may find subjective issues pointless. ENTJs appear to take a tough approach to emotional or personal issues, and so can be viewed as aloof and insensitive. In situations requiring feeling and value judgments, ENTJs are well served to seek the advice of a trusted Feeling type.

When striving toward a goal, ENTJs often put personal needs aside until the work is done (and may expect others to do the same). For this reason, ENTJs may be considered self-sacrificing by some, but "cold and heartless" by others, especially those who prefer Feeling.

Here's a quick personality test (without a million questions) to see what you are:

Like others have said, I don't think it makes sense to put things into categories, especially musically related categories, and it would have been better to ask for a general personality description.

As far as personality, I'm easy-going and happy. I'm not easily angered or excited. I am friendly and enjoy being around and talking to people I know in small groups (2-5), but not going into situations where I am meeting lots of new people or with many people, so I'm introverted. I avoid conflict for the most part and am politically and religiously moderate and dislike extremism on either side of a spectrum, which I see as arrogance/ignorance. I'm a computer geek, obviously, but don't really care about what people think of it. I'm logical and rational and love facts and knowledge. I'm lazy and have trouble being motivated to do things I'm not interested in, and am perfectly fine with spending an entire day sitting around doing nothing. I have a wide range of interests - the world (a generic interest I know, but I'm not sure how else to categorize it, but to give you an idea, anything that comes on the National Geographic channel, I watch), video games, programming, music, movies, astronomy and astrophysics, ultimate frisbee, military, and history to name a few.

As far as music I can appreciate or tolerate almost anything that's not metal/screamo, gangster rap, or twangy country (songs about tractors being sexy are too much for me). But for some reason my favorite music is more what many may consider "girly", I guess you could say - the only three bands I have every song from are Owl City, Taylor Swift, and Relient K. I seem to like more what most girls my age (early 20's or late teens) would like more than guys. I prefer upbeat and happy songs.

And that's pretty much me .

That's one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever read. Every person on Earth categorizes and labels people... whether you admit it or not... Everyone does to some degree. You may not JUDGE them poorly... but you, as well as everyone else, certainly categorizes them to some degree.

Geek/Metal/Normal/Country/Other kind of person.
Geek: i like programming, modeling, amaze all of my friends with knowlege and excel in all of my school subjects.

Metal: I like many, many metal bands, A7X, Metallica, Disturbed(favorite), All that Remains, Slipknot, Korn (a little), Red, Stone Sour

Normal: I live a normal, law abiding life

Country: Just a little bit redneck (nothing major)

Other: My hobbies are unpopular where i live, i only know two other people who share my interests, i have a higher than average IQ for my age (my IQ is 120, which is based from two years ago so i'm sure i've got smarter), have a large Vocabulary, i enjoy fighting people, have a very high resistance to pain, and i hardly ever get mad.

so yes, that's me, Any questions?
