I'm sure there has been threads about the 3DS already but I got mine on June 17th and I thought I'd put here what I though tof it and hopefully get a few friend codes.

The 3DS has been insulted endlessly, saying it's not worth the money. Does my head get hurt? Yes. But only when I'm an idiot and use the 3D when I'm looking away. Half the time my 3D is off, and it's still worth every penny. My DS Lite was 250 when it came out and all it added was slickness. This adds a circle pad which is so much more awesome then you probably think. It has games that more for hardcore gamers instead of anything with Mario on the cover like the DS before. It allows you to make Miis and sort them, which you couldn't do on the Wii. You can make them from a photo which proves to be more fun then it sounds. After a few seconds, and I mean seconds, of tweaking you have your Mii in half the time it took before. The top screen is wider and the stylus is more accurate.

Speaking of games, right now I have Nintendogs and Cats, Zelda, and Street Fighter. All games are very fun, yet so far Zelda is the best. A lot of people say they ruined it but I feel it adds just the right splash of new but it still keeps its nostalgia. Nintendogs and Cats seems too familiar to some, but I like the newer, more realistic and fun walking system and series of stores available. With trainer points now you can unlock new breeds by loving your dog instead of having to connect with other players. The cats are lazy and don't get you money, but cute. My entire body melted the first time it chased a ball of yarn, turned around, and smiled at me.

It's still annoying how in the game you can only enter a competition twice, and that's your only real source of money. That's why Zelda is the only real awesome game to me. I play Nintendogs for an hour or so in the morning, then when I run out of things to do because it's dumb like that, I switch to Zelda.

The AR games are enough to last you at least 3 days without a game, especially fishing. I only need one more freaking fish to finish my collection . Anyway, people complain it's hard to use, as is the 3D, but they made the ranges specifically because that's what comes naturally. Just play from the angle and distance you would if there was no limit. You'd be surprised.

The games coming out this fall look amazing, I've been waiting for a new Luigi's Mansion and I grew up with Star Fox. Mario Kart's a rehash but it looks like an okay buy. Super Mario adds some cool stuff but Kid Icarus is the one I want. I had an emulator of the original games before Pit even appeared in Super Smash Bros, beginning his comeback. I'll be the first one you see playing that release.

The online store for the 3DS is pretty lame, but I just ignore that and the music app. The camera app is pretty fun for a while then it gets boring.

Streetpass is cool because as little as I go out, I go to Gamestop to pick up a game and get home to find I passed someone with a 3DS. Wow! I also shake my 3DS for playcoins to use them on heroes for Find Mii, where you use found people on Streetpass or a hired hero (costs 2 playcoins, you get one for every hundred 'steps'. You can only get 10 playcoins per day) to fight ghosts until you reach your goal.

I think that's all I have to talk about but overall the 3DS is worth every penny. The 3D, when used, is interesting. Things don't jump out at you, your immersed. Every last bell and whistle makes me pee my pants a little and as my brother (Shadowtroid) said, enough little things can make something that doesn't seem good on the surface amazing.

My friend code is 0602 - 6365 - 7091

To be my friend you must request me and I must request you, so if you are one of the few who one a 3DS please place it below. You can feel free to ask questions or state opinions on the console.

Thank you.

I've tried one, and it's better than I thought it would be. Maybe pre-conceptions based on Nintendo's last forray into 3D. The 3D is pretty weird, it's effective, but subtle. Reminds me of those old holograms, or the rulers with the 3D layer effect. That's what it's like, layers of 3D rather than a fully 3D environment. That's a good thing though, because 3D videogames don't work very well as it is - at least the 3D on the 3DS is game orientated. I only played StreetFighter and Pilot Wings, but they both look great.

The new thumbpad is great - Sony take note... analogue control on a handheld device needn't be rape.

That works after the last update.

The main problem that I have with the system is that the friends list is a very empty feature. There's no chat functionality, you can only see the game that your friend chose as his/her favourite, you can't see a list of all of their games and play times.

The rest is very fun though. I have Zelda and Resident Evil, Resident Evil is by far the best looking game that I've seen on the system so far. After you beat all missions about twice, it isn't as much fun for longer play sessions. It's still a lot of fun for shorter plays, and I have Zelda for longer plays.

I also don't know what LT meant about not liking the e-shop. I would like to see more 3DS games on it, but I'm sure that will start happening sometime soon.

That's exactly it. All I saw was classics for ten bucks, which I have no interest in. I want 3DS games. But I have downloaded some trailers from E3, which are interesting to watch in 3D.

Nintendo has announced a chat feature in a future update that isn't far off, and I'm sure the rest of the things you mentioned aren't either. A lot of people online are asking for a better friend system.

Would you recommend I get it before Splinter Cell? I liked Splinter Cell Conviction, it was the first game I got on Steam, but I absolutely hate all other Splinter Cell games. I'm worried it's more like them then it is Conviction.

And if your wireless isn't working, make sure you switch on the wireless switch on the right side of your system. That bugs me that it can't always be on.

It's just a bad remake of Chaos Theory.

Just watched the trailer for it and read a few reviews.

First off: Do you think it's too freaky? I was fine with Killing Floor, but this looks a tad worse. I've never seen a game too freaky but, like I said, this could be the first.

And is it worth the price? I could easily go for something else and you said it doesn't have much lasting appeal. But someone online said it's good and long lasting if you enjoy doing the same mission to get new upgrades, which I do to an extent. I don't want 10 missions then tons of replays, but I think 30 would be enough. I like how there's... 4? or 5? characters, and that you can play cooperatively because this is probably the only game anyone I know is picking up besides Zelda, which is totally single player.

No, Killing floor is probably scarier than this.

That kind of depends. I've had a lot of fun replaying the missions, because you're on a time limit it's easy to discover new areas in each map for the first few times you play the map (after about 10 plays or less, you'll have seen the whole map, but it's still fun). I'm not entierly sure on how may missions there are, I think there's ~22.

I'm fine with less then 30 missions if there's a map to explore

Good. It's just at the end of the trailer it showed a clip from the new Resident Evil coming out next year. A freaky thing bit off your head at the end so I wondered if the whole game was like that. But thinking about it, that thing at the end of each thingy on Killing Floor was much worse looking.

Okay, so on the top of my game cue now: Resident Evil Mercenaries: 3D

CRAP. I just saw the new Ghost Recon and it says it a) has a successful class system, which I love. b) Is a Fire Emblem game with guns, and I love Fire Emblem. The only Game Boy Advance games I still have are Fire Emblem and Metroid games. All the reviews say it's amazing, so now I am further torn. Another reason to get it instead of the zombie shoot em up is my parents read the back of the box, and... let's just say I'm not confident Resident Evil will give a great look. They're fine with guns but Resident Evil is more on the horror side. Sigh.

Tomarrow I get enough to a) get my first cat, or b) get my 3rd dog, on Nintendogs and Cats. Which do I pick? And what cat do I get if a? They have oriental (Siamese with different colors) standard (basic domestic cats) or long-haired? (Himalayan, Persian, etc.)

The back of the resident evil box is pretty much a picture of the characters just standing there. The game isn't that violent either. There's minimal blood, the only "gore" that's in it is when you shoot or stomp a zombie's head off.

Either way, it's your choice. If you do get Ghost Recon, tell me how it is, I was unsure of getting it.

And get a cat (house).

Crazy parents, happier with you killing real people than killing mindless zombies .

I'm gonna have to investigate that Ghost Recon... I'm a big fan of the series, and a game like that might just sway my decision whether or not to get a 3DS.

Get the 3DS. There's so many worthwhile games coming out for 3DS and right now Budokaiman is my only friend. (3DS friend, heh)

And that is true, there isn't much gore, but I'll think about it. I won't get the money for at least a week, probably more, anyway.

And which cat? Standard household cat, oriental which is like different colored Siamese, or long haired like Persian?

Hmm... are you sure? The long haired ones are cuter, but economically the standard one is more realistic. I could I always get another dog... they have Dachshunds now. And Bull Terriers, like the Target dog. That would get me more money to be able to afford a cat later on, but I am pretty busy with my two dogs now. One Charles King Spaniel and one Dalmatian. So I better get a cat.

God I hate this.

About the games, I got the IGN reviews for both

Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D

5.0 Presentation
The menus are bare bones and clunky. Would it have been so hard to design a concept that could involve a basic story?
7.5 Graphics
The graphics are highly detailed and some of the best on the 3DS. The character models are especially impressive… except sometimes enemies pop in and out of existence. The frame rate is a problem too.
6.0 Sound
The sound does an adequate job of setting the mood for monster-killing, but there could have been a little more variety.
7.0 Gameplay
This game is fun and addictive, but lacks depth. Once you tire of slaughtering bad guys, there’s not much else to experience. The Revelations demo isn’t so hot.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
I found myself returning again and again to best my scores, but in a few months I doubt I’ll care. It’s designed to be an extra, not a retail release.

Total: 6.5, okay

Ghost Recon Shadow Wars

7.0 Presentation
I don’t have a problem with the way the menus or interface looks, but I really wish they’d voiced the Ghosts rather than just given them text boxes.
6.5 Graphics
It looks like a slightly higher resolution DS title, and does little to showcase the improved technology.
6.0 Sound
The music is decent, but the sounds of the guns and characters are repetitious.
7.5 Gameplay
This is turn-based strategy combat done right. The campaign gets a little too repetitive with the mission objectives, but it’s still a lot of fun.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
If you dig the gameplay there’s a long, 20+ hour campaign, as well as a good amount of challenge levels. You definitely get your money’s worth.

Total: 7, good

I am also now a proud owner of my Basset Hound, Lee.

Now I own:

A spaniel named Eli, who rocks a gray fedora with a matching scarf. This is the saucy pup at the cafe that every sassy Pomeranian wants to get her paws on.

Maxine, the tabby kitty, that refuses to wear clothes and can't go outside at all. But it's cute because it's a kitty. :3

Pogo the dalmatian, 'the funny one', making friends with even the most stubborn of German Shepards, and is one heck of a disc catcher. The ladies love an athlete.

And finally my new Basset Hound Lee. He drools, he won't get off his butt, and nothing in my very expensive wardrobe looks good on him.

Dear god, I think I might have to take him back.

And for those who thought I was joking, there is a dog cafe. You take your dog to *laugh laugh* mingle with other dogs. One time me and this other lady bought crem-bule (I know I misspelled it, deal with it) for Eli and a female Pomeranian who hit it off. I got stuck with the check, of course. And while they were fine dining, I got what? Tea. I hate tea.

I'm ashamed that I'm doing this, but in Zelda I'm stuck on the part where you are at Zora's Domain. I did the Diving Game, found the market, but how can I get King Zora to move aside and let me get to Lord Jabu Jabu? Do I need to find princess Ruto?
