What influenced you to take the name that you currently have?

In terms of me, well... Big robots are cool. I leik big robots. Autobots are big robots. So I took the name AutoBot (with a capital B for no apparent reason).

EDIT: Pacman is cool too.

think we've had a thread like this before...

anyway: the two names i go by on the internet is Alioli and [Q]uik

Alioli is from my childhood when my mom combined mine and my little brothers name, lol.

[Q]uik came from a mistake, sort of... I was playing CS 1.6 and had found my first CLAN, and the clanleader made us a banner, whereof he named me [Q]uik, aside from my real name "(Fire)" (i was young lol) anyway, he said he thought that was my game name, I however think he thought it sounded sissy-ish but ive been called [Q]uik in about every game i play now for about 5 years or so, iam pretty happy with it and sticking to it

and for the record, I am a man.

I like Halo. I hate coffee. At some point during the age of eleven, I married Halo and coffee for arbitrary reasons, and got CoffeeGrunt.

Some time later, I found that I am the only person on the internet who goes by this moniker, and decided to keep it. Heck, it's pretty much my second identity by now among some circles.

Around 2009 I got my PS3. (it was about a month after LittleBigPlanet came out?) Anyway, I needed a name. At this point I didn't have my own laptop and Shadowtroid, my brother, didn't have his computer, so I usually just used his account on everything (as some will remember, Shadow had many posts around then that said "This is LT", which stands for Little Troid for those who don't know, because I was his little person, and also there was the war over the keyboard when Shadow was typing in a chatroom. There was Budokaiman there, who at that point dubbed me Little Troid, but I don't know who else was there. Anyway, I'm rambling) But he said he wanted me to get my own account for this. So desperate for a cool username I went online. I looked up animals because I loved animals and eventually found the cormorant. I love ducks and the cormorant is a close cousin of the duck but it's black. I love black. It also is mostly found in Minnesota, which for some reason is my favorite state. (I've never been there and I don't have any family there...) So I decided to be "Cormorant" but without a surprise it was taken. So I added the first number that came to mind, 5, at the end. I found it was cool and unique so here I am, with the same name.

God writing about my past, using Shadowtroid's account, brings back some great memories. Like when I played Team Fortress 2 with Budokaiman, pretending to be Shadowtroid. I sucked, and at some point later on Budokaiman mentioned how much he sucked that one time and SHadow got so mad

Mine is (mostly) Latin. Amo(Love), Deus(God), and, well... I'm a man. It has religious importance to me. Being that I'm a strong Christian. God, I hope that doesn't break some forum rule about religious names...

[EDIT]
@CoffeeGrunt:
Especially, when you put it on easy, and the grunts couldn't hit you point blank with their pistols!!! XD Me, my cousin, and my friends, sat there for like five minutes laughing our heads off because there was a single grunt and it couldn't even damage my shield hardly! Even elites only fired like 5 or so bolts from their auto-rifles every 10 seconds.

I used to play runescape and at the time I had an account and my brother had an account. We decided that we would trade our accounts for this other guy's higher level account. Obviously, we were scammed and were devoted to catching up to our old accounts. We made a new account with the name Fool7898 because we were fools. Then after I scammed someone on that account I thought of the name of heyufool so that's what I've been using for just about everything!

Well, I was a LOT younger an looking for a cool sounding name for Online Shooters... something people would nickname a weatherd mercenary...Wolf came to mind.

I was later on romantisizing (do you say it that way) with it being my state in a society ruled by sheep and dogs. Yeah... I was still very young.

However, I became known on the web under that name and I kept it.

Now it gets wierd: I even had a girlfriend that called me Wolf.

The real name is Adrien, btw.

Adrien "Wolf". That does sound like a mercenary!

Quote: "There he was, standing in the doorway, pistol in one hand, knife in the other. A scar ran down his face, past his neck, and disappeared under his shirt collar. He had raven hair, cold blue eyes, and any man that tried to cross him, either ended up under boot heel, or 6 feet of dirt! His name... Was Adrien Wolf."

Dang. 'Cause I've been itching to try an experiment with a group of writers who are on the same page as me. The only thing is, we'd all have to be in the same room for this idea to work. Actively communicating, passing ideas back and forth, and so on. Oh, well. Guess everyone knows where I'm from. Sort of. It's still a pretty big state...

My name is the tag I picked for playing Halo Deadtom with a GC tacked on the end. I pick Deadtom, which comes from a Muppet movie, for my tag because, even though I could do very well in online games, I would always have one of the largest death counts.
The GC stands for Game Creator.(as you could probably guess)
Now it is basically my internet name.

my name is a silly mutation. My name is Kieran, being an Australian it was shortened to Kezza.

when I was at school there was a poxy local band that called themselves "kip la" that everyone enjoyed taking the piss outta. During a bag out session we were putting la on the end of everything.

I was renamed Kezzla and it has stuck for 11 years now.

... I've just decided I need to make up a story for my name that is actually interesting...

A long time ago in the early 80's of BBSes I started out as Ace because after 5 months of pouring quarters into Space Ace I finally finished the game on one quarter and took Ace as my BBS handle. I stopped BBSing for about a year then decided to go back but without using Ace. I racked my brain to find the perfect handle and came up with Grog (the character in B.C. Comics that only says Grog). After just being Grog for 10+ years I decided since I play a lot of RPGs that I needed to have a cool last name to go with Grog. Since I loved Infocoms Zork I decided to use the legendary blade that killed Grues called Grueslayer as my last name. I've been Grog Grueslayer ever since in every game/forum on the internet.

me i used to use my name till the day i felt like it became dull. As a creative story writer i was in the days i make all kinds of characters. one of the charater i made was a superhero name DevilLiger. the character's relation was his great grandfather was strangely the devil himself. anyways the devil told him why he came onto my character that his father left behind some unfinshed task, which is another character. So the curse was passed up to him. so he became a true immortal and his true powers were given to him by the devil himself. So he decided to call himself devilLiger. Devil which is what the curse is originated from and Liger for the animal whose huge and strong. so the character was huge and strong that pretty matched his character anyways in all sorts of ways. The DevilLiger character was already an immortal, but an immortal can die if he/she was to be slained. the curse was that he can live even when slained. I don't want to go into more details, but that's all i can say. the character was inspired by Jushin Liger by Go Nagai and the pro wrestler version as well. oh yeah the unfinsh task was untold to him as he was to find out, but later he knows that he exist to slay evil monsters who escapes from hell and also to fullfill the destiny that his father left to him.

relations tree:
- Devil(The ruler of hell)= god
- DevilLiger's direct grandfather and the nephew of the Devil=
half human, half god.
- devilLiger's father = half human, half god (just like Hercules)
- devilLiger's mother was a human = so that's makes him more human but he's still pretty much part human and part god.

edit: DevilLiger is also my steam name and also at places on the net too.

Mine is my music alias. When I was a nipper (all dem years ago!), I was Twisted Magician, and then when I started rapping, I became the Twisted MC. Then when I toned down the rapping and started concentrating on the music side of things and improved drastically, I reinvented my online presence to distance myself from the old garbage. I thought Fallout was cool, because it was could mean massive impact, or desolate, or post-apocalyptic etc. Lots of things I like (Come on zombie apocalypse!)

I use this alias everywhere, pretty much. Except porn site, where I go by the name "Big Daddy Smooth".

My first alias, First Company Veteran, was derived from Warhammer 40,000 from one of the Space Marines, coincidentally called "First Company Veteran" . I didn't necessarily pick it because of that but more because it kinda gave priority and status.

My second alias, SikaSina Games, was made up from playing Shi No Numa on WaW. I started saying random stuff in mock Japanese and babbled out "sikasina" which I though was pretty cool. However, that's obsolete as I'm a solo musician and games designer now ,

One of my to-be aliases...PulS3 is my current music alias and got it from my music class after hearing "pulse" so much (Tippett's Concerto if anyone's wondering ) so I muddled that and got PulS3 or Pul53.

Astyxión is my band name for me, my almost brother-friend and my 'female' friend (not girlfriend but really good mates). I thought it up by Asphyxiation and strangely Staccato .

Parunagall was my Hardcore name, for whenever I created Gabber with ol' Saw clips or even just wanted to take my anger out in music.

A7X Harbinger is my to-be Xbox LIVE name, derived from Avenged Sevenfold (FTW \m/) and one of my favourite words Harbinger. Harbinger, it's pretty cool . It's practically because I mullah on Quake Arena Arcade on Nightmare difficulty, had 63 kills 17 deaths in half an hour .

There where other (band)names that I could chose from, though.

Why did no one know I was Shadowtroid's brother?

I had the purple metroid he had as an avatar as my avatar for a while, only smaller and green instead of purple. I thought that made it obvious enough.

Anyway, Shadow got his name because he loved every Metroid game and I guess he was in that phase where the Shadow element is awesomer then all others, so he just made a shadow like Metroid on his computer and later on thought of it's name: Shadowtroid. He took the name on TGC when he needed one, because it was already his avatar, and now he uses that name everywhere.

It's every two years or so...

Anyway, mine is a nickname of my first name, and the last letter is the first of my surname. Pretty simple really.

This was pretty much my second consistent name I used on different forums (first was Nerrad - see how cunning I was? ) but the third (and current one) is Crivens which I pretty much use everywhere else these days. I was going to change it here about 5 years ago, but decided to stay as I am otherwise you have people from a decade ago not remembering who you are...
