Hey everyone!

As you may know, I work as an electronic technician, and I received the task to make a logo with a group for our electronics lab. I'm not very good at making creative logos, so I'd love some input to help me with this

We already made an integrated circuit with our text on it, but it was rejected by our boss. Reason being that the integrated circuit is too old, and the logo is too static. He wants more dynamic in it, and it must be able to show our competence.

Requirements

-The words Lehrwerkstatt Elektroniker must be on the logo
-Dynamic logo (<-- make of that what you want )
-Competence must be visible at a glance
-It must be visible that we make electronic circuit boards

Any help, designs or plans, and ideas are greatly appreciated!

What is "Lehrwerkstatt Elektroniker" in English?

Quote: "We already made an integrated circuit with our text on it, but it was rejected by our boss. Reason being that the integrated circuit is too old, and the logo is too static."

What do you mean it is too old?

Why does everything have to be "dynamic" these days, that just seems like bovine defecation to me.

Believe me, we are as puzzled as you are... By "too old" I mean that the integrated circuit we used on the picture was designed 30 years ago, our boss wants a modern chip to be displayed.

Lehrwerkstatt Elektroniker pretty much translates to Electronics Lab

@ all

We did some brainstorming today, we came up with multiple ideas and symbols we could use:

-hands shaking each other
-an ant (yes, the animal) to represent the working spirit, cooperation and team work
-a bee flying, dragging a long flag behind him with the "Lehrwerkstatt Elektroniker" on it like one of those advertising aeroplanes.
-oscilloscope measuring the logo

None of us is any good with symbols or art, so we are stalled at the point where we put it all together. A guiding hand would be most appreciated

This is a Playstation 3 chip (65 nanometers):

Thanks Grog, we added that to our list of ideas.

The group is angling more towards the ant idea, so here is a quick photoshop of what we had in mind:

(attached, too big to display in post directly)

Everyone seems to like the idea of replacing the anteni of the ant with measuring probes, and replacing 4 of his 6 legs with electronic components such as diodes, resistors, capacitors and wires.

Any feedback on that?

My honest feedback? That's not a logo, that's an image. It's too complex and detailed to be a logo.

Why would your boss ask technicians to make a logo? That's like asking a programmer to perform chirgury. Tell him to spend some money and get a real logo.

Thanks tha_rami

It seems I kind of failed to get the idea across to you guys, sorry about that... What we're after isn't a logo in the sense of a simple, 2D image with text like you'd put in your signature. What we're after is more of a splash screen to advertise our lab, like a billboard.

So sorry for the confusion, I should really explain things better

Ah, like a billboard. Now, that's a completely different story. I like the train of thought for the image then, but how about going further then? I don't know, if the metaphor of an ant works for you, why not an entire ant out of electronics. Might be fun.

The current organic/technology thing is a bit... prosthetic-ish, while if the ant was completely tech, that would disappear.

Also, fonts.

I wouldn't mind helping out. You can see some of my designs at 99designs.com

I didn't win any of those contests, except for the Campaign for Liberty banners you might come across, but I definitely know my way around logo design. Let me know if you're interested!

I like the idea of the ant but not that picture, it would work better if the ant was entirely made of electronic tools/components.

I found a couple of cool pictures:

Not sure how pleased your boss would be about that one but it certainly is interesting!

@ Obese87

Wow, that is pretty awesome! I don't think we'll have the time to build our and practically, but it will certainly be possible to do a 3D render or something in that direction. Thanks for your input
