Yes, Red Dwarf series X is coming sometime around September 2012. Anyone else a huge Red Dwarf fan?

Yup - great news. I just hope it's more like the earlier series, and less mucking around with the 'crew'. Some satanic penguin puppet style episodes would suit me.

It takes over a year to produce what will probably be 6 episodes?...

But still I was a massive fan back in the day. Really hope it comes back. Grief, I think I was 16 when it first aired...

Thank God they seemed to have finally dropped the idea of a film and going back to doing the series. Hopefully it will be better than that 2 part effort with Corrie in it

Now the ultimate dilemma.. Do I keep my awesome avatar or move to Ace Rimmer?...

Cheers

Ps. Smoke me a kipper...

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Yes that was a huge disappointment. As a giant red dwarf fan I am excited but that Corrie crossover has me less excited as I would normally have been.

It's being made by Dave again, and they want to shoot it in front of a live audience. Not getting my hopes up. That is all.

Most people are clever enough to realise that when it's in every post, it's a sig.

I just though he was being obnoxious

Dave always ruins stuff, and when they make good telly, they ruin it by repeating it until your brains dribble out of your eardrums

After that dabocle were the crew ran around the corination street set for half the show, I can't say I'm thrilled at the concept. If the BBC took it up, great! But that last special was physically painful to watch. Which was a shame the first 5 minutes was quite good

P.S. Isn't the world ending that year? Could this be the reason?!?!

I just read that there's only going to be six episodes. This fills me with less confidence, it's obvious they can't get any decent funding for it. I'd rather live with my good memories of Red Drawf then have a six part series done on a shoe string budget.

I think you're forgetting just how shoestring the budget of the original series was

And I never got why people thought the Dave specials were so bad? Sure, they weren't brilliant but they were funny, and it's not like they were physically IN corrie

I thought the new special was pretty funny. But I'm a pretty forgiving guy.

The first episode was very good, even though not much happened. The pacing had to increase to balance it out, and the next episodes didn't really do that

Red Dwarf Series 1-6 were all 6 episodes. Only 7 and 8 were 8 episodes. I always thought the smaller budget series were the better ones. I really didn't enjoy the later series back on Red Dwarf with them as the Canaries as I did the older episodes where it was just the primary cast.

I hope they come at this with no reference to the Corrie crossover episodes and if this is to be a final series that they actually give some closure to the overall story of trying to get back to Earth.

Thats a good thing, Every series of Red Dwarf bar 7 and the specials was done in front of a studio audience. It works to greatly improve the filming of comedy as the performers are able to interact with the audience, and are able to wait so they don't deliver lines over audience laughter.

I have never seen an episode of Red Dwarf in my life. I have always heard great things about it so I've always been a little tempted to sit down and find videos online. But I've been too lazy to lol. And I'm American so idk if the British humor will make it my type of show. It could be though so I'll have to watch a few.

I don't think it could physically be much more obvious that it's a part of his sig. Really doesn't take more than 3 seconds to even notice that the word "quote" is a dark-ish blue, which means it's a sig.

@ RedneckRambo:

I'm a huge fan of Red Dwarf and I'm American. You really should see at least one episode.

First episode:
