Haha that would be cool! But the stuff would have to be strong enough and heat resistant enough to handle the countless explosions in the cylinders. And you would need a big printer. A really big printer.

If they made the powder eatable, this could make some pretty awesome looking food.
I wonder if the 3D printer will print a 3D printer.

I know there is some sort of 3d printer that can print out 70% of it's parts x)

and for the record, I am a man.

Remember the replicator on StarTrek? Everything they had we will or already have. I would assume that it's just a matter of time until it will make items stronger than metal. It also make me think of "I Robot" or "T3". Machines building machines.

it would be awesome if it could print out ALL the nuts and bolts and all the wiring (not the ICs of course!)

Hopefully I can sit around and in 10 years some people will have made it happen xD

They're essentially resin. And thick resin at that. Pretty rock solid I'd guess

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

I always wanted one of these. The even have some that will "print" using metal, but the only ones I've seen taht do that carve the object out of a solid metal block. Still pretty cool.

Sad thing about the ones shown above, is you can't print something that is closed off, because then it would keep all the powder inside of it with no way to get it back out (without breaking it, anyway)

I still want one, though

This is a pretty good description of industrial-quality 3d printing:

In the hobbyest field, you can find someone who has a 3d printer that can make a 3d printer for you out of it. Also, people build bigger 3d printers using smaller (cheaper) 3d printers.

hmmm the ones i've seen before you had to replicate it in separate parts. this one just scans the whole thing together like it's even possible to scan a car and get an instant car. lol pretty cool video.
